Claim 53-90F7-93J Complaint TDI 451983 I was a State Farm customer until September 11, 2025—a day that became my "second birthday." Another vehicle slammed into mine at high speed. The impact was so violent that it threw my car into the oncoming lane, where another vehicle had passed just moments before. I spiraled toward a fence, desperately trying to avoid a massive utility pole with an electrical transformer; in that split second, I truly believed that even a simple fence post would be the last thing I ever saw. After crashing through the fence, I finally came to a halt against a building. The result: four months of agonizing treatment, including: Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) with direct damage to brain neurons. Damage to the brain's white matter tracts. Neuro-visual dysfunction: impaired eye function and coordination. Spinal injuries: four herniated discs, a traumatic disc rupture, knee injections, and endless rehabilitation. Severe PTSD, panic attacks, and depression, confirmed by Creyos cognitive testing. Abnormal Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI): 6 abnormal neural tracts found out of 48 studied. Abnormal Brain Volume: the report indicates atypical volumes in 7 out of 90 brain regions (1 decreased, 6 increased). This is only a small fraction of my diagnoses; the full list would be enough to fill a medical encyclopedia. My medical bills total nearly $90,000. The at-fault driver’s insurance paid their $50,000 limit immediately and without question, demonstrating professionalism. However, my own company, State Farm—to whom I paid premiums for a $100,000 UIM limit—has acted like an enemy. Initially, they offered a measly $27,200, apparently believing that a total of $77,200 is somehow greater than $90,000 in actual losses. After nearly two months of negotiations, they raised the offer to $50,000. By their math, $50,000 + $50,000 = $100,000. Out of that $100,000, $90,000 goes to medical providers. Am I expected to pay my attorney and fund my future rehabilitation with the remaining $10,000? Before this accident, I could easily run 15–20 miles; now, I cannot walk a single mile without pain. Is their settlement offer commensurate with my injuries? I am ready to buy them a calculator since they clearly cannot count. It is a pity that one cannot buy them honor, a conscience, or basic humanity. Instead of helping me rebuild my life, they are "haggling" over the remnants of my health. They are literally forcing a person with a brain injury to undergo new, painful procedures just to "prove" obvious pain. My pain has been documented by every examination since my first day in the hospital, yet the insurance company has simply spat on the facts. To State Farm, you are not a human being; you are a "garbage" number in a report. They collect your premiums for years, but when you lose the ability to think and walk normally, they save every cent at your expense. With a "neighbor" like this, one doesn't need enemies. Even if State Farm were the last insurance company on earth, I would rather walk on foot than trust them with my life. I regret falling into this pit of heartlessness and greed before seeing the true face of my "good neighbor." Do not repeat my mistake—stay far away from them. I have formally submitted your second offer and your assessment to the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) for review. You may now provide your explanations regarding this claim and the valuation of my permanent injuries directly to them.

I was involved in an accident on June 3, and my vehicle has been sitting damaged in front of my house ever since. I have been unable to work, and I have been unable to take my daughter, who has a severe disability, to her medical treatments. All of this is because of State Farm’s failure to handle my claim properly. They provide terrible customer service and employ representatives who ignore phone calls, make promises to call back, and then never do. They leave customers without answers, assistance, or support during one of the most stressful times in their lives. I completely understand why many business leaders are looking to replace certain jobs with AI. Based on my experience, an AI system would have handled this situation far better than the people assigned to my claim. An AI could quickly generate reports, communicate respectfully, search for solutions, arrange towing services, coordinate with repair shops, and help secure a rental vehicle so a family is not left stranded. An AI would be efficient, responsive, and available. The saddest part is that honest and hardworking employees would also be affected by this transition. However, people who neglect their responsibilities and collect a paycheck while doing the bare minimum contribute to the problem. In my experience, State Farm representatives have ignored customers rather than doing the work required to help them. State Farm, these employees should be held accountable. They are not only unresponsive, but they also misrepresent the facts in order to avoid providing the support and assistance that customers deserve. No one who has just experienced a traumatic accident should be treated this way.

Absolute failure in basic customer service. Do not recommend. I am beyond frustrated with the lack of professional support from State Farm. I manage commercial accounts and simply needed to update a mailing address and contact number—a process that should take five minutes. Instead, it turned into an administrative nightmare. I called their 800-number and was disconnected three separate times by an automated system telling me to "call back to speak with a live operator." On my fourth attempt, I realized the only way to actually bypass the bot was to claim I was in an auto accident with injuries. That was the ONLY way to get a human being on the line. Once I finally reached someone, I sat on hold for another 45 minutes while the representative "tried" to help me with a simple data entry task. How does one of the largest insurance providers in the world fail so spectacularly at basic and simple customer service? State Farm never has a problem sending out a bill or collecting their money on time, but they clearly do not understand how to support the clients they are collecting that money from. As a community manager, I am now highly recommending that every community I oversee move their business elsewhere. If you value your time and need an insurer that provides actual support, look somewhere else.

I hope that in the near future State Farm’s executives and shareholders replace these lazy, rude, and unprofessional employees with AI systems. Many companies are already successfully using AI technology, and State Farm should seriously consider doing the same. There is little value in relying on employees who appear unwilling to help customers. Based on my experience, some State Farm representatives seem more interested in doing the bare minimum required to collect a paycheck than in assisting the people they are supposed to serve. Customers have rights, but honoring those rights often requires work: reviewing documents, communicating with experts, investigating claims, gathering evidence, and following up on important issues. These responsibilities require effort, attention, and accountability. Instead of doing that work, some employees seem to choose the easier path: ignoring customers, delaying responses, and hoping that frustrated claimants will eventually give up. In my experience, this creates the impression that customers are being worn down through delays and lack of communication rather than receiving the assistance they deserve. If AI can provide faster responses, better organization, greater transparency, and more consistent customer service, then it may ultimately serve customers better than employees who are unwilling to perform their responsibilities properly.

The staff are very professional, helpful and understanding. Jonathan is an exemplary agent. I have saved so much with this change to State Farm insurance. I can't thank you enough.
