U :Dessert Story

On Saturday, June 20, 2026, I ate at U :Dessert Story for my birthday. We went there a little bit after 5 pm. The place wasn't busy at all. There were a few people eating there. Here's what we ordered. The Salted Egg Yolk Brick Toast, Chocolate Volcano Bingsu 🌋 and Mango Stick Rice Bingsu. The Salted Egg Yolk Brick Toast was hands down one of the best desserts I've ever eaten. The orange Egg custard sauce was delicious and the Brick Toast was warm and soft. The vanilla bean ice cream on top was the perfect addition to this dessert. Hands down the best dessert out of the 3 we ordered and definitely a 5 out of a 5! The Chocolate Volcano Bingsu was good. It wasn't knock your socks off good like the Salted Egg Yolk Brick Toast but good overall. The chocolate flavor was lacking in my opinion. I wanted it to taste more like chocolate and have more of a chocolate pronounced flavor but it didn't. The chocolate flavor was mild at best. There were bananas, cocoa krispies, corn flakes and brownie chunks throughout the chocolate volvcano. I can see why a lot of people order this dessert because the presentation is cool. It's pretty big and it comes out with a dry ice cube on top that makes it look smoky and foggy to simulate a volcano that just erupted. Cool concept. The mango sticky rice Bingsu was my least favorite. The mango chunks weren't ripe and were hard. They didn't taste good or have good flavor. The sticky rice which was green tasted okay but not so great. The condensed milk on the side was super sweet and made the dessert taste somewhat better. But overall the mango sticky rice Bingsu was a failure. I don't recommend ordering this dessert. Even though the mango sticky rice Bingsu wasn't good, I would still come back and try more desserts. I would try another Brick Toast and some other chocolate desserts that sounded good on the menu.

I came with friends for dessert one evening, but it was a bit disappointing overall. When we arrived (a little late), all the toast items were already sold out. The staff didn’t inform us beforehand and just let us sit down, which felt quite unprofessional. The regular cakes were average — nothing special. The shaved ice (bingsu)was less sweet than I expected, which was actually a good thing for me, but it was served in very basic, low-quality dishes that didn’t match the café’s supposed aesthetic or price level. The biggest disappointment was the Thai Tea Mille Crepe. The sauce was not smooth at all — it had clumps and felt very sweet(looks like curry?). I still finished it, but the next day I suffered from severe diarrhea. I strongly suspect the sauce and cream in the Thai Tea mille crepe were not fresh. Lesson learned: it’s probably best to avoid dairy-based desserts here in the evening. Will think twice before returning.

We came here for dessert and we got the ube milk with boba and the thai tea crepe cake. The ube milk had a great flavor and this was some of the softest boba I have ever had, which I really enjoyed. The crepe had a great thai tea flavor and it was moist. I am excited to come back and try more of the crepe cakes!

Attentive service, great ambiance/vibes. Cant believe it’s open until 1am some nights! I’ve only tried the mango sticky rice Bingsu, which was good, but I didn’t realize how big it was! Definitely could share between 2-4 people. Main reason I won’t be able to come back often is the high price point. Our desserts were more expensive than our dinner earlier that night.

I visit this spot every time I want to treat myself after completing a stressful semester. Every time I get the mango sticky rice toast and it’s absolute perfection! It comes with a side of pandan coconut sticky rice and mango sauce, but I always ask for the coconut sauce instead because the coconut sauce is better, and traditionally mango with sticky rice is served with the coconut sauce, not mango sauce. I tried deviating for my usual once, and I ordered the salted egg yolk toast and I wasn’t impressed. 4 stars because it is pricey, and the mango sticky rice toast should be served with coconut sauce.
