5th Avenue Designs - Custom Jewelry & Engagement Rings

We began work with 5th Avenue in early 2025, designing a custom engagement ring. Our initial in-store experiences were good, but communication outside the store was a consistent problem. The store also lost our family stones for multiple months. First, the communication. Emails and calls often went unanswered for days. Even after two in-person design sessions where we left feeling aligned, we were repeatedly asked to send more reference photos. The first CAD design we received didn’t match what we’d discussed and looked very unprofessional (attached as well as the final design). As our October proposal date approached, roughly eight months after starting the process, we were concerned the ring wouldn’t be ready in time. Second, the lost family stones. We had my mother’s ring appraised before giving it to 5th Avenue to remove the stones for our design. After the proposal, we had it appraised again, and the appraiser noted the stones were different from the originals based on size. When we raised this with 5th Avenue, they told us the stones had been lost, and said a third-party vendor was responsible. This was upsetting, since the stones had been in my family for generations, and we looked into our options, including legal action. Given the seriousness of the issue, we expected prompt follow-up, but we again ran into missed callbacks and delays. When my fiancé went in to return the ring, 5th Avenue told us they had found the stones in a file cabinet and returned them to us. This made us question their earlier explanation that the stones had been lost by another vendor. We did get the stones back, and we returned the ring for a full refund. Overall, it was a difficult experience, and the communication issues started well before the problem with the stones came up. We will not be working with them again. Leaving this review as 2 stars because we did get a full refund for the ring and the stones back, but we can't justify any higher.

I walked in on a Saturday afternoon and they were welcoming and polite. I needed a chain fixed for my husband. The person who helped me knew exactly what to find and got the exact match for the piece. They took about 2 weeks to fix because it needed another piece as well. Service and communication was great and the chain is good as new!

I used my mom’s diamonds from her wedding ring to create a new ring for myself. I turned in some scrap gold, and it was reasonable; even with the high cost of gold these days (Dec.2025). Chris was great to work with and if I’m ever in the market for jewelry again, I’ll definitely be back.
