I would give negative stats if I could: I had a very disappointing experience with Lemonade Car Insurance\. I switched from Progressive because my rates kept increasing despite having no tickets or accidents, and Lemonade was considerably cheaper\. Unfortunately, within the first month, Lemonade contacted me saying they couldn’t locate my lending company, even though I had provided the lender’s name, address, and phone number\. I reconfirmed the information and believed everything had been resolved\. Later, I noticed my insurance payment had not been withdrawn from my account\. When I tried to contact Lemonade, I was stuck going back and forth with their automated bot system and was unable to get clear assistance\. I eventually obtained coverage through First Acceptance Insurance\. I then received a call from my lender informing me that Lemonade had canceled my policy within days of its start date\. I was never notified that my coverage had been canceled\. As a result, I unknowingly had a lapse in coverage for nearly a month, and my lender added its own insurance, leaving me with a $907 charge\. I have been driving for more than 20 years and have never experienced an insurance lapse\. Finding out that I had been driving without coverage without being properly notified was extremely upsetting\. Lemonade may offer lower rates, but based on my experience, I strongly recommend verifying that your policy is active and carefully monitoring your payments and coverage status\. My family members will also be switching their policies.
