Absolutely ridiculously AMAZING!!! this was our second stop in. Both visits were great! The food is just to die for! I'll be dreaming about the garlic bread for the next 6 months!! No one was disappointed with any of their purchases. Great coffee, great bánh mi, great sweet treats, great savory treats! Do not miss this place if you are in Portland. (Or maybe even near Portland area!)
This bakery is great. They have many French and Vietnamese options presented tastefully but also in a no frills kind of way. But it’s not just a bakery they have great grab and go lunch stuff too like salad rolls and steamed bao, and other dim sum type stuff. It’s Counter/window service and they’re an always a line in the afternoon, however they are Quick despite the cue. There are SO MANY OPTIONS for baked goods and everything I’ve had is great. I am a savory pastry Kind of person so Definitely try the sandwiches. I love the combo bahn mi. Also The garlic cheesy bread is so good. There is some outside covered seating near the parking lot if you want to have your stuff there but I usually take it home. The price point is pretty amazing. I’m also addicted to their ice coffee in the boba cups, they’re sweet and fast. This bakery is such a part of the heart and soul of foster. If you need something quick, cheap, and yummy this is your spot. I hope they stay around for ever.
I was very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. The service was poor from the moment I arrived. The older woman who served me seemed unfriendly and unwelcoming. I did not feel greeted as a customer, and the interaction made me feel uncomfortable. I also felt that other customers were receiving warmer service than I was. While I cannot say for certain, as an Asian customer, I left feeling that I was treated differently. As for the food, I ordered a coffee, a BBQ pork bao, and three bánh mì sandwiches. The BBQ pork bao was one of the worst I have had. I love bao and eat them regularly, so I was excited to try it. Unfortunately, all I could taste was salt and sweetness. It lacked the savory BBQ pork flavor that I would expect from a traditional Chinese BBQ pork bao. The coffee had a nice aroma, but it was overwhelmingly sweet. I understand that Vietnamese coffee is often sweet and strong, but this tasted mostly sweet without the strong coffee flavor I was expecting. The bánh mì was also disappointing. I ordered the grilled lemongrass pork bánh mì, but there was no noticeable lemongrass flavor. It mainly tasted like pork and Maggi sauce. The spread tasted similar to store-bought mayonnaise rather than something made in-house. Overall, the food was below average, but the service was what made this experience especially disappointing. I had wanted to try this restaurant for a long time because I enjoy bánh mì, so my expectations were high. Unfortunately, I will not be returning. I did not try any of the bakery items, so I cannot comment on those. Based on my experience, however, I would not recommend this restaurant.
I went to the Pick-N-Pull in Portland and while checking out the guy mentioned An Xuyen Bakery and how good it was so I decided to check them out. I bought a pork sandwich, black&white cookie and another pastry. It was so delicious and …
We got the number 13 grilled pork with lemongrass banh mi, a vegetable bow bun, and the Ube custard bow. The banh mi was delicious, the bread was great, the vegetables were crisp. The filling inside the vegetable bao was perplexing, we couldn’t tell if it was a radish or some other kind of fresh vegetable, but it wasn’t very flavorful unfortunately. The Ube custard bao bun was delicious.
