With a 4.6-star rating across 2,533 reviews, it has become a well-reviewed option for people looking to share a relaxed daytime meal in the city. For a familiar, filling meal, reviewers mention the Bearcat breakfast with eggs, potatoes, bacon, and pancakes. Other standouts in guest comments include bison sausage, soft-shell crab, shrimp and grits, and fresh juices. The menu offers options that can suit a casual breakfast, a weekend brunch with friends, or a group meal where everyone can choose a different dish. One guest particularly enjoyed the soft-shell crab with a group of six, while another recommended the Bramble drink. These are individual experiences rather than promises about every visit, but they offer a useful picture of the food and drinks diners have enjoyed.
The atmosphere can be lively, especially around weekend brunch, and waits are possible during busy periods. One Sunday visitor reported waiting about 35 minutes near 12:45 p.m.; other guests describe being seated sooner, so timing can vary. Reviews say guests sign in at a kiosk outside the front door and wait to be called for their table. There is a parking lot on the corner, though visitors also note that parking nearby can be tricky. If you are planning a visit with a group or a tight schedule, arriving with some flexibility may make the experience easier.
BEARCAT CAFE UPTOWN is a good fit for brunch seekers who value flavorful, generous plates, made-to-order breakfast basics, and a welcoming team, and who are comfortable with a busy restaurant at peak times. Before ordering, check the current menu and ask staff about any ingredients or service charges you would like clarified. Some reviewers report an automatically added 20% gratuity and a 2% care team fee, so it is sensible to review the bill. For a daytime meal in Uptown New Orleans, this cafe brings together crowd-pleasing breakfast favorites and distinctive choices such as bison sausage and soft-shell crab at its Jena Street location.

A friend recommended we come here and glad we did! A parking lot is on the corner. You sign in at the kiosk outside the front door and wait to be called in for your table. Waitstaff was friendly and helpful. The sausage is bison, eggs are cooked to order, and pancakes were light and fluffy, mine had the addition of blue berries. Great experience.
I went based on reviews. Wait time maybe 35 minutes around 1245 on a Sunday. Service was good gratitity is automatically 20% plus a 2% care team fee. I ordered the Bearcat breakfast with pancakes. Eggs potatoes bacon and pancakes.. basic …
Expensive brunch for 5 end up with a $250. Bill. Charged xtra 20percent tip and also a charge for employee care. Wait time is long. Parking is tricky. Food is great and service is great. Had to try to see what all the fuss is about. Would come back for the good but not the wait time. Juices are great!
I enjoyed my food here. I had a really delicious, soft shell crab. It was a group of six and all of us really enjoyed our food. The only thing that we did not like was the barbecue shrimp and grits. Get the drink, the Bramble, it was top-tier!
I am so happy we stumbled upon this place after the restaurant we tried to go to was closed. Such a blessing in disguise lol. This place is AMAZING!! It was very busy but we didn't wait long to get seated and were greeted right away. The fresh squeezed OJ is a must. We had the shrimp and grits and the Bearcat breakfast and I must say, this was top 3 breakfast I've ever had. Fluffy, delicious eggs, the bison sausage had such a wonderful flavor and the potatoes were cooked to perfection. Creamy grits, huge shrimp and pancakes to die for. I sure wish I lived in N.O. because I would be here weekly.
