Chow's Chinese Restaurant is a Chinese restaurant in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at 3033 N May Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73107. Customer feedback points to a menu with Cantonese-style dishes alongside familiar Chinese-American favorites, making it a practical choice for diners who want to revisit a classic comfort-food order or try something new. Reviewers mention sweet and sour chicken with fried rice, combination lo mein, wontons, cashew chicken, spare ribs, crispy duck, and whole steamed sea bass. The selection described by guests gives parties with different tastes several ways to choose a satisfying meal, from noodles and rice to seafood and roasted specialties.

Cantonese cooking is a notable part of the restaurant’s appeal. One diner describes the food as authentically Cantonese and highlights spare ribs, crispy duck, clay-pot-style dishes, and black pepper sauce. Another family visited after hearing that whole steamed fish was available and ordered a whole steamed sea bass. These comments suggest that Chow’s can be worth considering when you are looking beyond the most familiar takeout dishes, while individual availability and preparation details are best confirmed with the restaurant when ordering. For a first visit, the customer recommendations offer a few starting points: cashew chicken and fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, combination lo mein, or wontons.

Guests describe friendly service and helpful recommendations, and one review notes a fulfilling meal and a traditional, fun atmosphere. A family dining nearby also gave the restaurant a lively feel. Experiences can vary, however: another reviewer was uncomfortable after being told a tip was needed and chose not to tip. That candid feedback is useful context for setting expectations; it does not define every visit, but diners may appreciate clear communication about the bill and gratuity. Overall, reviews include praise for the food and staff as well as a concern about one service interaction, giving prospective guests a more rounded picture than a menu alone can provide.

Chow’s is suited to a casual meal with family or friends, a group hoping to share different dishes, or anyone in Oklahoma City looking for Cantonese-influenced Chinese food. Its range of reported options makes it possible to mix a familiar favorite with a specialty such as crispy duck or steamed fish. The restaurant has a 4.2-star rating from 876 reviews. It is open Monday and Wednesday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 10:30 p.m.; it is closed Tuesday. If you are planning a visit, check directly with the restaurant about current hours and whether a particular dish is available.

Not just Chinese food, it is specifically Cantonese style and it is authentically delicious. They've got the spare ribs, the crispy duck, clay pot style cookware, black pepper sauce, and more. I will be back a dozen more times to sample the rest of the menu and then a dozen more times after that because the food is so good. One of OKC's hidden gems for sure!

Great Chinese food from here. The staff were friendly and helpful with recommendations and got a great, fulfilling dish. Get their cashew chicken and their fried rice, as it was delicious. Although there was no music playing, the vibes were very traditional and fun with a huge family that was there during our dinner experience. The beef we got was also good too as an entree. Plenty of things on the menu to choose from, great portions for the price, worth stopping by for Chinese food!

The server told me I NEEDED to do a tip, and I was in the mist of about to add a tip a fellow party member of our table told me it wasn't required. So I simply stopped and didn't tip. I get the server industry is hard, but I am not required to tip, especially after that interaction this place desperate being very beautiful inside and the server was great, but don't try and force your paying customer to tip after they have already written it down on the tab for you to see.
