A hidden gem of the French Quarter. If you ever wanted to see one of the secret inner courtyards of the French Quarter, this place is your free access. And you can get a perfect cafe au lait and a delicious fruit tart while you soak up the Old Creole ambiance.

Charming cafe with baroque interior near to bourbon and royal streets. Large bakery section and breakfast plates with full service cafe. The interior and dining supplies were quite dated and poor quality. Food was somewhat expensive and 25$ …

I'm saddened how we were treated by staff just now, unnecessarily, probably won't come again because the pastries aren't it, only the ambiance is cute. We have come here for years and always brought family, and this was one of my mom's favorite places. We brought our newborn here on our first outing and had our hands full after ordering over $50 of pastries and coffee. My mom called in a video call, so I had her on speaker phone briefly while carrying items to the table. The barista behind the counter told me I couldn't have a call on speaker phone. Important to note I was not in line - just carrying coffee to our table briefly. So I walked to a far away table we were seated at and sat down so that it wouldn't disturb anyone else - we were in the window nook 15 feet away from the nearest table - but did not hang up, as my mom was enjoying the ambiance vicariously from a video call from another state and I figured we would be brief and were out of earshot or any other customers. If she would have been here in person, we would have been speaking and it would have been louder than my phone. Other parties of multiple people were enjoying their meals, talking excitedly and loudly at their tables - no big deal, you expect to hear other people speaking when you go out to breakfast, right? Then another barista took it on herself to come shout at us across the room that we cannot have a call on speaker phone. I hung up on my mom and asked to cancel our order and get a refund so we could leave. They refused. All they would give me back was the tip I'd left them. They only offered all of our food to go - but we have a newborn and the whole reason we were on speaker phone is it's hard to carry everything, what are we gonna eat eggs and pastries and coffee in the car in this heat? We would have just stayed home or gone elsewhere if we'd known. I asked staff if they could please post a notice about their no speaker phone call policy - if we would have known we would have waited to call my mom or have gone elsewhere. She made some excuse. Like, we respected the notice to leave our stroller outside (while sort of ridiculous given that they weren't that packed with it being summer but whatever) - we would have respected any obvious policy. I'm not gonna let it ruin the occasion, but I don't think we'll come ever again, honestly the pastries are mediocre, too doughy and not really authentically French, I've always really just enjoyed the ambiance with it in the quarter. But this is absolute crap customer service. They don't even wipe down tables after people leave, counter staff were literally just there to take orders and boss people around between playing on their phones... Our phone call with my mom in the corner wasn't harming anyone, no customer complained or even noticed, just the staff felt entitled to boss us around, and then proceeded to yell at us across the room in front of multiple customers, much more loudly and disruptively than my phone call, which no one other than the staff even looked up about. This was Saturday July 11th at 11:30am. See that they're hiring - makes sense. Staff that were a little more courteous and a bit less power trippy might be good. (Photo to show just how far we were when yelled at by the cashier from behind the counter, and how non disruptive of the space a video call with my mom from my phone at our table was)

We visited this place early in the morning for breakfast. When we arrived, I wasn't even sure it was open. It doesn't look open from the outside. When we walked in we still weren't sure it was open. There were a lot of empty shelves in the pastry cases. What was in the pastry cases looked like it was left over from the day before. The girl behind the counter did not greet us. We were the only ones there but she did not even acknowledge us. She was indifferent and not welcoming or helpful in any way. It's a really cute place inside and there's a nice patio. The quiche and the pastries were okay. Not bad but not memorable either. The tiramisu cake was probably our favorite. I ordered a hot chocolate to go with my food and it wasn't even warm. I was just overall really disappointed.

Absolutely gorgeous place, I got the chocolate mouse cake and a ice cafe’ Au lait, it was very good. The coffee was light and the kind lady who was at the register added sugar for me. The cake was very chocolaty and smooth, I also enjoyed this cake. The women who took me and my dads order was nice and smiled most the time.
