For patients searching for an Orthopedic surgeon in San Francisco, CA, Dr. Stefano Bini, MD is a name that comes up for advanced joint care, especially for people dealing with serious hip or knee pain that affects everyday movement. Located at 1500 Owens St Ste 430 in San Francisco, Dr. Bini serves people who want experienced orthopedic evaluation and treatment in a major medical hub. With a 4.5 rating from 8 reviews, his practice is often associated with patients seeking help when walking, standing, posture, and basic comfort have become difficult because of joint problems.
What stands out most in patient feedback is the focus on hip and knee procedures, including robot-assisted surgery. Several reviewers describe hip replacement experiences in which long-term pain improved significantly after treatment. One patient shared that before surgery they could not stand up straight because of right hip pain, and after a robotic-arm-assisted hip replacement they were pain-free and standing with better posture. Another patient described a challenging, bone-on-bone hip case and felt reassured by Dr. Bini’s experience and the use of robotic assistance, saying they felt normal again after recovery. Reviews also mention knee replacement, with one patient describing the procedure as the easiest surgery they had experienced.
For people comparing orthopedic specialists in San Francisco, California, these comments suggest that Dr. Stefano Bini, MD may be especially relevant for adults exploring joint replacement options, second opinions, or treatment for severe hip and knee degeneration. The overall impression from positive reviews is of a physician known for professional skill, competence, and surgical ability. Patients who are considering modern orthopedic techniques may also take interest in the repeated mentions of robotic assistance, which reviewers connect with precision and good outcomes in complex cases.
At the same time, choosing an orthopedic surgeon is a personal decision, and patient experiences can vary. While many reviews are strongly positive about surgical results, one reviewer expressed frustration with communication and felt the after-visit summary was too generic for their specific injury. That kind of feedback can be helpful for new patients who want to prepare thoughtful questions about diagnosis, recovery planning, exercises, and follow-up expectations before beginning care. In a field as important as orthopedics, clear communication and comfort with the treatment plan matter alongside technical expertise.
Overall, Dr. Stefano Bini, MD is a notable option for orthopedic care in San Francisco, CA, particularly for patients focused on hip and knee issues and interested in a surgeon with reported experience in robot-assisted procedures. For local residents, Bay Area professionals, older adults managing joint wear, or anyone hoping to return to daily activity with less pain, this practice may be worth considering. The office’s San Francisco location also makes it relevant for people seeking specialized orthopedic care close to home in one of California’s leading healthcare centers.

Sign in to reviewTo whom it may concern, Dr. Bini replace my right hip. I'm telling you, I could not stand straight up, because of my Rt. hip. I had so much pain. Dr. Bini did the surgery to replace my right hip with the robotic arm. I'm in no pain now, and I can stand straight up with good posture. I am so thankful for this doctor. The doctor, the staff, nurses/assistant, even the front desk, worked with me diligently. They really care for you here at UCSF orthopedic. If you have questions, they have the answers. They are the specialty doctors. It's been a year now. I am so thankful. Thank you UCSF orthopedic.
Dr. Bini performed a robot assisted hip surgery on January 9 on my aching hip joint which was bone on bone. My anatomy was not typical which made the surgery more challenging, thankfully with Dr Bini’s experience and his robot assistant they did an excellent job. It’s been 3 months and I feel normal, no pain any longer. In addition and very importantly for me was his personality, great sense of humour!
Dr Bini was sloppy and arrogant. His after visit summary contained nothing about my case, just a boilerplate generic list, most of which didn't pertain to my injury. His PA gave me a list of exercises, which I was grateful for, thinking they would help me. But doing the exercises conscientiously, as I have, has caused a serious flareup, with pain I hadn't experienced since shortly after the injury occurred weeks ago.
Easiest surgery I have ever had, I had a knee replacement on my left knee and a little over two months later I was in Vietnam climbing a 15 story pagoda
Great professional, competence and medical ability.
