Ebisu Japanese Life Store is a Japanese grocery store at 1023 Arch St in Philadelphia, PA 19107, in the city’s Chinatown area. It brings together a shop for browsing Japanese snacks and other finds with a casual DIY ramen experience, making it a convenient stop for visitors who want more than a traditional grocery run. Whether you are exploring Chinatown, looking for something different to try, or shopping with a friend or family member, Ebisu offers a relaxed way to discover new flavors and products in one place.
A standout feature is the DIY ramen bar near the front of the store. Customers can choose from different ramen options and add toppings, creating a quick meal that suits their own taste. Reviews mention Buldak Carbonara ramen, with customers adding ingredients such as cheese and egg to adjust the flavor and spice. The setup is approachable for people who enjoy customizing an easy-to-make bowl, and it can be a fun choice for friends stopping by together. Topping labels and portions may not be as clear as every visitor would like, so take a moment to check what is available before choosing. Some reviewers also describe the ramen as a little pricey, making it helpful to consider your budget when planning a visit.
Beyond the ramen, the store has a selection of snacks, toys, and other distinctive items to browse. Visitors mention finding plenty of interesting things to shop for, and the shop area in the back gives the experience a second part after the food counter. It is suited to shoppers curious about Japanese-inspired groceries and treats, as well as people who like browsing for small discoveries rather than arriving with a specific shopping list. The range described by customers makes Ebisu a possible stop for a casual snack run, a ramen break, or a browse while spending time in Chinatown; the available selection can vary, so a particular product is not guaranteed.
Ebisu Japanese Life Store has a 4.3-star rating from 186 reviews. Customers have praised the friendly staff and enjoyable, easy-to-prepare ramen, while others have noted that the seating area can feel tight, particularly when moving through to the back of the store. Plan for a compact, casual setting rather than a spacious dining room, and check with staff if you need guidance on toppings or the shop. The listed hours are Monday through Thursday, 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Friday through Sunday, 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. For anyone seeking a Japanese grocery store in Philadelphia with ramen to customize and snacks and other finds to explore, Ebisu is a practical Chinatown stop; arriving with enough time to browse can make the visit more comfortable.

Me and my best friend Mika went to this place after seeing it on TikTok!! It was so so good, easy to make, and the staff was super friendly! We had the buldak carbonara and we made it too spicy LMAO I added cheese and u added egg to mine. Mika and I will be coming back here after work every single day. They should think about selling milk though LMAO
If you found this on TikTok, think twice. Kinda overpriced. $6 for buldak ramen w/ one free topping. Topping are in these small container. Wish all the toppings is labeled. The seating area is also inconvenient, not enough room for people to walk through to get to the back area, which contains the snacks. We have to keep pushing our chairs forward.
I love it here. So many cool things to shop for, they also have DIY ramen bar up front for 5 bucks. So many unique findings, toys and snacks to chose from. Love visiting here when I come to chinatown. Never disappoint!
DIY ramen place and different ramen to choose from . Also with a store in the back they have different kinds of snacks and more . We enjoy our time their . Will be back to try other ramen
I did not check out the store. My boyfriend, son and I came in at 8:29pm and we were excited to see what they had. We saw online they close at 9pm, and since we weren't getting food and we were paying by card that it'd be okay for us to look for 5mins and maybe make a purchase. But as soon as we got to the store part in the back, the man pointed at us and the exit saying "we're closing right now." In a very snappy tone which is so rude, especially compared to the lady at the food counter telling a customer "we're closing but I can make it for you." I understand we may have came late, but he could have been much nicer. Definitely won't be returning. Maybe change your hours to 8:30 if you desperately need those 30mins to close.
