EBISUYA brings together a Japanese restaurant and a Japanese grocery selection at 24 High St in Medford, MA. It is a practical stop for people looking for sushi, ramen, or a bento alongside Japanese groceries and specialty products. Customers describe the restaurant as small, with thoughtfully prepared meals, while the store offers fresh, frozen, and dry goods. That combination makes EBISUYA useful for a quick meal, a grocery browse, or both during the same visit. The business has a 4.7-star rating from 908 reviews, reflecting many local customers’ experiences, while individual preferences about selection and prices can vary.
The menu items mentioned by customers include sushi, ramen, and bento, with one reviewer especially praising the fried aj bento for its balance of textures and flavors. Another describes a visit that paired pizza with sushi, an unexpected combination that they enjoyed. Hojicha tea and ice cream also made a memorable impression in that review. These are customer-reported favorites, not a promise that every item is available at every visit. Taken together, the feedback suggests a menu with familiar Japanese meal options as well as combinations that may surprise first-time visitors. If you are comparing Japanese restaurants in Medford, EBISUYA offers the added convenience of a grocery store in the same place.
The market is another reason people visit. Reviews mention a broad selection of Japanese products, including fresh, frozen, and dry goods, and customers who have spent time in Japan describe the store as a welcome way to find Japanese groceries locally. Selection and prices are not a perfect fit for everyone: one reviewer found the store comparatively expensive and wished for staples such as shoku pan milk bread. That mixed feedback is useful context for shoppers with a particular item in mind. Rather than assuming every specialty product will be in stock, consider EBISUYA a local option to browse for Japanese goods and pair with a meal from its small restaurant.
EBISUYA may suit Medford residents, nearby visitors, and anyone seeking a Japanese meal or grocery stop under one roof. It can be a convenient choice for sushi, ramen, or bento, and a point of interest for shoppers looking for Japanese pantry goods. Customer reviews describe quick service and carefully crafted food, though experiences and expectations differ. Find EBISUYA at 24 High St, Medford, MA 02155. The listed schedule is Monday closed; Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 11:00–14:00; and Thursday 05:00–20:00. Since hours and item availability may change, checking directly before traveling is sensible, especially if you are planning around a particular dish or grocery product.

We visited during Ebisuya's soft opening and were able to walk in without a line. The food was superb all around. The pizza + sushi combination was an unexpected hit. The hojicha tea and ice cream was delightful too. We'll definitely be back! (They have a Halloween pumpkin pizza that was truly incredible -- I hope they can turn some version of those flavors into a year-round staple.)
Ebisuya is a treasure. Every time I walk through their doors, I feel like I am visiting Japan again. They have a broad selection of well-priced fresh, frozen, and dry goods. Their sushi/ramen/bento is artfully crafted. I have cherished this place as long as I have been in the area. As their building is marked for demolition, they will be closing on May 31st. I sincerely hope they will find a way to continue providing the food and cultural education that the Medford community will sorely miss when they close.
This store was kind of a disappointment! The tiny Japanese grocery store near where we lived in Greenwich CT was one fourth the size and had much better selections. This store was also pricy and while it seemed they have authentic Japanese goods, they're missing key staples like shoku pan milk bread.
This place deserves 5 stars. Cool Japanese products and the small restaurant is just amazing. Fried ají bento is just so good, a perfect balance of textures and flavors, the cheff in charge is doing a good job, food came out quickly and delicious, good job!
I have been literally looking everywhere for a legit Japanese market like the ones I used to frequent to for years in Japan as a little one. I'm not talking H Mart or other Asian grocers with "all-things Asian". Not that I have anything against them, and I definitely frequent them for most of my Asian needs! But I was looking for a place with anything and all Japanese, and I happened to find it right next to our hotel in Medford of all places. They have full stock on just about anything you would find in a supermarket in Japan, from frozen goods and fresh seafoods to kitchenwares and school supplies. They even have a small restaurant with freshly made bento and made-to-order sushi, AND a fully functioning automatic Toto toilet/bidet in their restroom! For a while now I've been craving arabiki (Japanese sausage) and ever since I left Japan I've only had it once more at Japadog in NYC before they closed. I was nearly brought to tears of joy when I saw that they carried the sausages here, and instantly bought several packs to take home. Among other unique offerings they also had soy sauce dispensers with all different kinds of soy sauce to self service from, and entire sections of Japanese pastries and snacks. We also ordered some fresh made bento and sushi, and were extremely pleased. The oyakodon was to die for, and it was made with haenuki rice, which brought back some fond memories as a child. The tamago nigiri was amazing as well, not to mention the hamachi, tuna, and octopus nigiri we ordered. The only downside, if being picky, is that they don't have any alcoholic beverages. They do have non-alcoholic beer, but nothing that would make you tipsy. No worries there for us, however. We can find them widely available elsewhere. Parking is on the street, so don't forget to pay the meter, it's only 25 cents for 15mins, or if you're like us, walk from the hotel. We could easy spend a whole day here if we wanted to! I know for a fact that we will be making routine stops here if we are in the Boston area again, it's definitely worth the trip!
