What stands out most about Golden Farmer Market is its broad selection for an independent urban grocer. Shoppers have specifically noted items such as Chinkiang vinegar and dried bean curd sticks, pointing to a selection that can be especially useful for home cooks searching for specialty ingredients without making a longer trip. Beyond produce, visitors mention grocery items, beverages, and refrigerated foods, giving the store a practical, everyday role for households in and around San Francisco, CA.

The atmosphere at Golden Farmer Market feels like a true local market: compact, busy, and full of discovery. That neighborhood character makes it a good fit for nearby residents, students, busy workers, and anyone who appreciates the convenience of a market that has a bit of everything. Friendly, supportive staff are another recurring positive in customer comments, adding to the sense that this is a community-serving grocery store rather than a generic chain experience.

Practicality is also part of the appeal. The store is open daily from morning to evening, including Sundays with slightly shorter hours, which helps when shoppers need produce, snacks, or dinner ingredients on a flexible schedule. Some reviewers also appreciated that the market was open on holidays when other options were limited. At the same time, customer experiences suggest that inventory and pricing can vary, and a few shoppers noted concerns about price tags or value on certain items. For many locals, though, the combination of convenience, fresh produce, and specialty grocery options keeps Golden Farmer Market relevant.

For people searching for a neighborhood grocery store in San Francisco with fresh vegetables, fruit, multicultural pantry items, and an easy local-market feel, Golden Farmer Market offers a useful stop on Polk Street. It is especially well suited to shoppers who want quick access to staples while also keeping an eye out for Asian or Mexican ingredients that are not always easy to find nearby. In a city where convenience matters, this market continues to serve as a dependable, approachable option for everyday grocery needs.

December 2025 Local grocer that has a bit of everything that is Mexican or Asian to a point. Lots of fresh produce and a very good support staff.

Tried a Too Good To Go bag from Golden Farmer Market and was disappointed. Most of the items were already expired by several months — the juice (May 2025), dried cherries (June 2025), cookies (July 2025), and eggs (Sept 12, 2025). One apple was even spoiled. The only usable item was the bread. Too Good To Go is supposed to be near-expiration food, not already expired. This store needs better quality control.

An absolute hidden gem of a market with a great selection of fruit, vegetables, and grocery items. Just wonder the narrow aisles to find the great assortment of grocery items, beverages, and refrigerated items needed. Friendly staff with a nice local market vibe.

Pros: + Open on Christmas + Decent variety of groceries Cons: - no price tags for many items (see photos) - expensive - overpriced by 30% compared to Target Trap music. While pleasantly surprised to find this grocer open on Christmas day, I was highly disappointed when I browsed the shelves and found no price tags for many items, eg. in the frozen section. Choosing not to display suggests a deceptive nature to promote more sales.

Surprisingly well stocked with Asian groceries like Chinkiang vinegar, dried bean curd sticks, etc. Very impressed! We were not expecting this level of selection nearby
