Hair Plus Beauty Supply

I like this beauty supply store because they have a pretty large variety and the location is large and full of hair items. Only reason I have a 4 start instead of a 5 star was because they lack the latest trends. For example I went to get feathered crochet hair and they were very limited to colors and styles, I only found 3 different packs, 2 human blend and 1 human. When I look for boho crochet hair they don't have a lot of variety but they have a lot of locs, twist, and braid. I need more trendy colors and styles.

This place price gouging. They sell this pack of hair for $50 before tax. Online as well as in other beauty supply locations it is $15-20! They also have $25 wigs being sold for +$80. I understand business and paying for the quickness and convenience(maybe $20 extra) because they have to make money too. However, this is absolutely predatory on the supporting community of women and individuals who enjoy all things ‘beauty’. Your dollar is better off with the products, prices, and customer service just two minutes up the road at the Hair art outlet off of 84th St. instead. I’ve noticed that Hair Art, unlike this beauty supply, supports the community that supports them by hiring people of ALL kinds within Tacoma. This is so helpful when wanting advice on purchases and product knowledge. The attentiveness, patience, and care they show as I try on wigs and shop around is also a big difference. Lastly they have a reward system that is unbeatable. After shopping there for a while my last purchase came to $17.something, I used my points and it covered my ENTIRE purchase. It came to $0.00. I was shocked but grateful for the small win. This weekend, I thought I’d pop in to this B&I after being away for a while and came to the conclusion that I will not be returning again. I just cant bring myself to pay over 3x the price on products that are not a necessity, especially in this economy. It makes it worse when you realize they purchase most of these products wholesale. So realistically, they get it for even less than the $15-20 we’d pay online or elsewhere. Companies have a right to charge what they’d like so I am not complaining, just informing. Likewise, customers (especially loyal supporting customers) have a right to know how they are spending their dollars.

The experience was basic. The store did not have what I was looking for and very few substitutes. Overall I had to change the idea of what I wanted to what was available. I had little to no interact with staff, therefore cashing out was polite.

I truly didn’t appreciate being followed around the store. It honestly made us feel like we were being treated as if we were stealing, which was very uncomfortable. Shopping should feel welcoming, not suspicious. Unfortunately, this experience left a sour taste for us, and because of it, we won’t be returning.

They have a large inventory at this beauty supply but the prices are wild. Just shop online instead or check out a different store. Also they'll follow you around while you're shopping so that's annoying.
