Hungry Heart Bakery & Café is a neighborhood bakery in Portland, Oregon, at 414 SE 80th Ave, Portland, OR 97215. It brings together coffee, pastries, cupcakes, and savory breakfast and sandwich options, making it a practical stop for a quick bite or a relaxed café visit. Customer feedback often highlights friendly service and prompt ordering, including visits when the café is busy. The business has a 4.6-star rating across 481 reviews, offering local diners a useful snapshot of its overall reception. Whether you are looking for something sweet alongside a latte or a more filling breakfast, the menu offers choices for different kinds of café cravings.
Breakfast is one of the standouts mentioned by customers. Reviews describe a bacon breakfast burrito and the Sunny Day, as well as the B.E.S.T. sandwich. These savory options may suit people stopping in for breakfast or looking for a substantial café meal. One visitor said ordering was seamless and food arrived quickly during a busy Sunday visit, while another praised the fast service and welcoming staff. Experiences can vary by item, though: feedback on a B.E.S.T. sandwich made with gluten-free bread was less positive. If gluten-free bread matters to your order, it may be worth checking what is available and whether it fits your preferences.
For something sweet, customers call out the mini cupcakes, pastries, and macarons. Grandma’s Horchata mini cupcake drew especially enthusiastic praise, and one reviewer enjoyed pairing it with a caramel latte. The horchata oat milk latte also earned a positive mention, giving coffee drinkers a distinctive-sounding option beyond a standard café order. Reviews of the macarons are more mixed: one customer admired their texture but found the flavors they tried too mild. That range of feedback makes it helpful to choose based on what you enjoy most—whether that is a cupcake with a pronounced horchata note, a pastry with coffee, or a delicate macaron.
Customers describe the café’s atmosphere as cute and say the interior smelled inviting when they walked in. Friendly greetings, quick service, and a selection of baked goods alongside savory food come up repeatedly in their accounts. Hungry Heart Bakery & Café may be a good fit for Portland locals seeking breakfast, coffee, a pastry, or a small treat, as well as visitors looking for a casual stop after arriving in town. The reviews suggest a welcoming place with several popular sweet and savory choices, while also showing that individual items can land differently for different people. Stopped by here on a busy Sunday for some grub after our flight touched down. We were greeted by staff upon walking in, despite it being busy. Ordering was seamless and the food came out quick, which by the way was killer! I got the breakfast burrito with bacon, my partner got the Sunny Day. Bother were splendid, and our cappuccinos delightful as well. Will be back!! We happened to see an interaction between some random soyjak, and one of their staff who was busy making a myriad of drinks. I have to hand it to this staff, they handle unreasonable and unruly customers so professionally, it’s a shame service workers aren’t treated like human beings anymore. Come get your breakfast or lunch fix at Hungry Heart in Montavilla!!
The vibes in here are cute, the service was super friendly and the horchata oat milk latte was delish. I ordered a bacon sandwhich (B.E.S.T sandwhich) on gluten free bread and it was pretty inedible. The gluten free bread was sliced super …
Very friendly staff and fast service. The coffee and pastries were both really yummy.
Amazing mini cupcakes, Grandma's Horchata was moan worthy and paired with my caramel latte I was in heaven. The texture of the macaron is next level but sadly my hubby and I both thought the two flavors we tried were lacking. I would never be able to guess the flavors as they are soooooo mild and its mostly just sweet but not flavorful. The cream cheese Danish was one of the best I've ever had, flakey, buttery, and crispy without being dry at all. Haven't tried the cinnamon roll yet but it looks stunning and smells like happiness so I have high hopes. Very friendly employees, and a cute atmosphere. The prices were very reasonable as well. We got a lot of things to try and it was still under $30!
I was gifted a gift card for Hungry Heart long ago, and was finally able to use it. First impression, the whole place smelled amazing!! Savory flavors filled the …
