La Segunda Seminole Heights is a bakery at 5150 N Florida Ave in Tampa, FL, serving customers looking for freshly baked bread and pastries. The shop is open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., making it a convenient stop for a morning pickup or an afternoon bakery run. Its location in Seminole Heights puts it among Tampa’s neighborhood food destinations, and its reviews reflect the appeal of bringing home fresh-baked favorites.
Cuban bread is the standout: customers describe picking up a warm loaf, slicing it at home, and enjoying it with butter. Others say they bring loaves from La Segunda to family members who have moved away from Tampa. The aroma of bread baking is part of the experience, and the focus on fresh loaves makes this a practical choice for households, visitors, and anyone hoping to share a taste of Tampa with friends or relatives. If Cuban bread is what you have in mind, it is the item most clearly singled out in customer feedback.
Reviews also mention pastries such as guava turnovers, alongside the bread. Pastry texture can vary, and one customer noted that Tampa’s humidity affected the crispness of a turnover. That sort of detail is useful when deciding what to order: La Segunda Seminole Heights is best approached as a bakery for baked goods to take away, rather than a full-service café. Customer reports say this location has limited seating and that its offerings may differ from menus or expectations associated with other locations, so check directly with the shop if you have a particular item in mind.
The atmosphere is described as a working bakery, with customers able to see a production-focused environment rather than a conventional café setting. For some visitors, that behind-the-scenes feel is part of the charm; for others, the key draw is simply getting a fresh loaf quickly. Reviews often praise quick service and fresh bread, while also suggesting that seating and the selection of goods may be limited. The experience is therefore suited to a straightforward pickup, not necessarily a long sit-down visit.
With a 4.4 rating from 169 reviews, La Segunda Seminole Heights has drawn attention from locals and travelers alike. A colleague of mine recommended this place when I was down in Tampa visiting! So, I found the closest one to where I was staying! I believe that the other locations have dine-in options, but this one was strictly take-out with limited seating. I thought there would be more variety of goods, but it seemed to be mostly bread and loaves at this location. It smelled really good inside fresh bread scent, but I decided to go for the guava cheese danishes/pastries that they had too! They were extremely tasty, and definitely live up to expectations but were not as sweet as I was expecting them to be. Super tasty and the pastry was definitely freshly made.
When you walk inside and they're cookin bread, the smells will captivate you. I just picked up a hot loaf, brought it home, and sliced it into 3" pieces, buttered it up and crushed some while drinking some fresh Cuban coffee. This is so delicious! Always GREAT, QUICK service and the freshest bread on this damn planet! 🥖🌍🌐
You are basically ordering in a manufacturing place lol and it's awesome. What's not awesome is the guava turnover I ordered must've succumbed to the Tampa humidity because there was no crispiness or crunch even though there was flake. This doesn't seem to be guava's natural color but maybe they use natural ingredients to color it. What was most disappointing is that I expected to get a Cuban sandwich there, as the existing Google photos and their online ordering suggest are available, but with no menu posted, no mention of sammies anywhere on-site, and no active sandwich making or press visible I figured I must've read wrong and didn't ask. Maybe for the best because the ropa vieja empanada I ordered was dry and less than half filled with anything other than air. I get it's an institution, that's why I came, but I was disappointed. I'll try a different La Segunda location next time, I'm not giving up on them!
Heading to see Tampa Native parents in TN and they Always request we bring loaves of authentic Cuban bread from La Segunda!. Always fresh & delicious.
This is not a “bakery cafe”. Don’t be fooled because they post a menu on their SEMINOLE HEIGHTS location Google business profile. They do not sell anything that is on the menu at Seminole Heights. Not even coffee. You can’t be a cafe if you don’t even sell coffee. Whoever manages their Google business profile had one simple job—take the menu down.
