Laurel Street Bakery is a neighborhood bakery at 2701 S Broad St in New Orleans, Louisiana, serving early-day visitors from Monday through Saturday. Its hours are 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays; the bakery is closed Sundays. A chalkboard sign outside, a large mural inside, and handwritten menus give the space a personal, relaxed feel, according to customer reviews. For people looking for a local stop for breakfast, baked goods, or a casual bite, the setting sounds welcoming and unpretentious.

The reported menu offers several ways to make a visit: customers mention bagels and coffee for breakfast, cupcakes and slices of lemon blueberry loaf, and king cake, including a sampler. Reviews also describe savory options such as a roast beef sandwich with grilled onions and chips, alongside coffee drinks including lattes. That range makes Laurel Street Bakery a possible choice for someone who wants more than a pastry, whether stopping in for a morning meal or choosing a sandwich. Specific items and availability can vary, so it may be helpful to ask what is fresh and on offer when you visit.

The atmosphere is one of the bakery’s clearest strengths in the feedback provided. One visitor describes it as bright and community-loved, with the mural, chalkboard, and handwritten menus contributing to a distinctly neighborhood character. Another mentions pleasant service and a large menu. These details may appeal to residents and visitors who prefer a casual local bakery over a formal dining experience. The location on S Broad Street also gives customers a specific New Orleans address to plan around, while the relatively early closing time makes it more suited to breakfast and lunch-hour visits than to an afternoon stop.

Customer experiences are mixed, and the reviews include criticism as well as positive impressions. Some visitors have raised concerns about the freshness or texture of bagels and cupcakes, the filling and bake of a sampler king cake, and the seasoning of a roast beef sandwich; one review also found a latte underwhelming. Other customers have appreciated the service, atmosphere, and menu variety. The listed rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 359 reviews, offering one snapshot of customer feedback rather than a promise about every visit. If freshness matters for a particular pastry, asking staff about that day’s selection may help you choose.

For a straightforward neighborhood stop in New Orleans, Laurel Street Bakery brings together baked treats, breakfast staples, sandwiches, and coffee in a casual setting. It may suit nearby residents, visitors seeking a morning bakery, or anyone who enjoys handwritten menus and a space with local personality. Plan around its daytime hours, especially the 1 p.m. closing, and keep in mind that individual experiences with particular menu items differ. The address is 2701 S Broad St, New Orleans, LA 70125. Checking directly with the bakery for current offerings is a practical way to confirm what is available before making a special trip.

Laurel Street Bakery is exactly what you want from a neighborhood bakery, welcoming, bright, and clearly loved by the community. The chalkboard sign outside and the big mural inside give it personality right away. Inside, the handwritten menus and relaxed setup make it feel local and authentic, not trendy-for-the-sake-of-trendy. I had the cinnamon roll and it was legit. Soft, fresh and perfectly balanced, sweet but not over-the-top sugary. The icing didn’t drown it and the dough had that light, fluffy texture you hope for but don’t always get. You can tell it wasn’t rushed or mass-produced. If you’re in New Orleans and want a solid bakery stop, good coffee, fresh pastries,l and a real neighborhood feel Laurel Street Bakery is worth it.

We ordered some bagels for breakfast and some coffee. The food was OK, but the bagels were a little bit stale. We did get breakfast late so it may have just been the timing but they’re supposed to be a bakery so I expected better bagels.

I visited today, asked if cupcakes were fresh. She lied and said yes, they were made last night. It was hard as a rock, and cold like it was frozen. There was a man sitting in there, then goes behind the counter who couldn't stop coughing. The lemon blueberry loaf slice had no flavor in the cake. Will Not be back. Don't waste your time. Shut this place down!!

Purchased a sampler king cake from this bakery and I am very disappointed. The corner that is supposed to have strawberry cream cheese has NO filling, and It’s almost as if it was over baked. Very disappointed!

Laurel Street Bakery has pleasant service and a massive menu. I ordered the roast beef with grilled onions and chips, and a latte. The roast beef sandwich was a bit too salty and the mustard is not a good match for this. But, past that, it was great. The latte was subpar. I would try other coffee items, just not a latte again. The location has a fee table to sit at and is very clean. I will return to Laurel Street Bakery and I do recommend it to others.
