If you’re looking for a straightforward, neighborhood-style barber shop in San Francisco, CA, Li Ly's Hair Salon offers the kind of local experience many people still appreciate: simple service, familiar faces, and a setting that feels connected to the surrounding community. Located at 153 Waverly Pl, San Francisco, CA 94108, this shop has built a reputation as a practical stop for haircuts in the city, with a 4.4 rating across 62 reviews. For people searching for a haircut in San Francisco that feels unpretentious and convenient, Li Ly's Hair Salon stands out as a small business with a distinctly local character.
One detail that comes through clearly in customer feedback is the shop’s community barbershop feel. Reviewers describe a storefront that is easy to notice and memorable, with a classic street presence that fits the neighborhood. Inside, the atmosphere appears busy but familiar, welcoming a mix of men, women, and everyone in between. That makes Li Ly's Hair Salon a useful option for people who value a no-fuss haircut in San Francisco over a highly styled salon experience. It’s the kind of place people often visit when they want something efficient, approachable, and rooted in the everyday rhythm of the area.
Based on reviews, the shop is especially known for quick cuts and affordable men’s haircuts, with customers highlighting value and speed. One reviewer mentioned a great men’s haircut for $10, while another praised Lily for recreating a fade with a long top from a reference photo in less than 15 minutes. Others noted that even when there was a short wait, the haircut process moved quickly thanks to multiple stylists working efficiently. If you already know the look you want and can show a photo, this San Francisco barber shop may be a good fit for keeping things clear and simple during your visit.
At the same time, the reviews suggest that expectations matter. While many customers were happy with the speed, price, and results, one reviewer shared disappointment after feeling that too much length was cut off without enough discussion. For that reason, people visiting Li Ly's Hair Salon may benefit from being very specific about length, shape, and how much they want trimmed, especially for longer hair. That practical note helps paint a more complete and trustworthy picture of the business.
Open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and closed on Wednesday, Li Ly's Hair Salon serves locals and visitors looking for an accessible barber shop in San Francisco, California. Whether you want a fast fade, a basic trim, or a dependable neighborhood place for routine haircuts, this shop offers a grounded, local option in the city.

Sign in to reviewIt has the look and feel of a true community barbershop, frequented by men, women, and everyone in between. The storefront itself is worth photographing: a glass door and wide window framed in blue, beneath a square sign in yellow with red lettering and a phone number stamped across it. Inside, mostly female barbers tend to a steady stream of elderly men and women. I usually watch them from Spicy Shrimp, where I lunch; the scene inside plays out like a nice and pleasant daytime soap opera.
Unfortunately, I've never been unhappier with a haircut. I am generally pretty forgiving about the style and shape, but the length of my long locks is incredibly precious to me, and the hair dresser hacked away at it without asking thinking she's giving me a "better" haircut. I can't chalk it down to miscommunication - I showed her a photo of my hair from earlier in the year when it was long. Then she showed me visually how much she would cut - it was about 2 inches and I was good with that. Instead she ended up cutting 5-7" (I have before and after pictures as well) which was ridiculous and not at all what I wanted! There was no turning back once she chopped the longest length. I am extremely upset that someone in this profession doesn't understand the emotional attachment people can have to their hair and won't ask before cutting more than the agreed upon length. It's worse because I took a chance on her and thought I'd give a local establishment a chance - and unfortunately for me I'm stuck with short hair for my upcoming milestone birthday. She didn't just cut my hair too short, she temporarily hacked away a part of my identity.
10$ for a man haircut and it was great. All the back from 2023!
Lily did a great job with my cut (fade with long top). I showed her a picture from my previous barber and she did a mirror copy in less than 15 minutes. I was super impressed and will be back soon.
Solid four stars for this hair salon. There were three people ahead of me but there are two women giving haircuts and they are quick, very quick. I showed Lily a picture & once she was done, she asked if it was ok. I asked her to trim down the sides & my bangs little more and two minutes later she was done. Simple haircut, nothing fancy but for $12 - it's perfect. If you need a simple cut or a trim , this is a place for you. CASH ONLY.
