Sign in to reviewMakes me sad to leave this review because my history with this grocery store location goes back 20+ years. It is a shadow of its former self. I used to go to count on easy parking, great selection, friendly cashiers, and the pharmacy. Now, new owners closed the pharmacy. Someone must be renting out more parking spots because today i got one of the last spots (at 8:30am) and the time before there wasn't a single spot open. NEVER has that happened before. There was a big redesign last year and now I never know where to find anything (admittedly that's a me problem). And as far as check out, today there was literally NO ONE at any of the check out lanes. I figured that must have been a mistake so i asked and nope, that's the official set up in the morning. Self checkout is open and if you need a person to ring you up (like if you have alcohol) it's going to be the person who is also manning the self check out. Everyone was just kind of confused and unhappy. It's a really miserable place now. They need to hire more people, make sure there's designated parking spots for grocery shoppers, and make it feel inviting again.
The most useless, cashier ever at self service. I have a Master card insurance card with MONEY AVAILABLE, Safeway takes it no problem. I asked the guy monitoring self service and he basically said "not my problem" I amazed these guys can get a job anywhere. Worked at food service all my life and i know about Customer Service. Very disappointing.
Yet another grocery sore in my area closing. They're creating a food desert. I feel sorry for the older/disabled folks without reliable transportation that now have to travel farther to get what they need. It's going to make Safeway on Market st even more crowded because really that's all that's all there is left for now.
The only real professional working there besides the mgr. is Marcus D. Wished his female colleague, Sophie, would take his playbook and not gaslight and argue with customers, “No you asked me that question already”. Me, “No I asked you a different question quit denying it”. Sophie, “No you did not! You asked me the same question!” Me, “I will report you to your mgr.”. Obviously she doesn’t like her job. She needs to be reprimanded and written up. Her disrespect and rudeness astounds me. What store clerk says that BS to a customer!!! Sophie needs to get a desk job far away from the public. She’s unworthy of her position!!! She takes discourtesy to a whole another level.
I’ve been going here over 10 years but lately there’s always only one employee to handle both cashier and self-checkout (which always requires an employee to scan) and the prices are often more expensive than even Gus’s which is probably 1/6 the size or less with 3 or 4 cashiers. They’ve always been friendly, but I just won’t bother anymore
