My go-to for Japanese groceries. I lived in Japan for years and this is the closest I’ve found outside Japan. Great selection and always fresh sashimi, seaweed salad, salmon roe, and tobiko. The yuzu tobiko is my favorite. I make sashimi bowls at home with the sashimi and it’s delicious (see photo).
Fantastic grocery store with tasty treats, snacks, and an interesting convenience section. We did not try the sashimi but it looked fresh.
Always been a wonderful place to shop since I was a kid and it used to be my mom’s weekly place to shop. Now we only get here once in a while but it is still one of the best places to shop for Japanese food items. Paid parking on the street and in the garage. Really enjoy their fresh sushi options in the cold section and their frozen selection options. The staff know my mom from all her years shopping and teaching next door at the Buddhist Temple so they are always super kind and chat with her when we go, which makes the experience even better. They also have a little bookshelf in the entrance for borrowing Japanese books and old vcr tapes. Glad this place remains in business and hope it does for years to come as it’s really the best Japanese market in the area. Now if they would have a Japanese bakery next door!
This is fast becoming one of my favorite neighborhood grocery stores. Everytime i go i find a delicious and fun meal to prepare or food to enjoy. The also usually have a wide variety of nissin ramen, and other delicous types of single pack ramens. Only thing they could do better is to carry the mini bokchoys which are superior to the large ones in everyway 😂😂
Although previously researched on the history of this oldest continuously operating Asian supermarket in Denver (probably also in Colorado or even the United States), seems like never have an in-depth walk through of our very own Pacific Mercantile Company. It has been a staple in the Denver for more than 100 years (if counting the years under N. Tatsukawa) . Besides groceries, the store also is a bazaar of Japanese tableware, cutlery, stationary, decoration and much more. Most groceries are competitively priced compared to larger Asian supermarkets in town. You can also find varieties of affordable fresh sashimi at the fish counter, including sea urchins. But what makes this place unique is its distinctive Japanese mom and pop grocery store feel throughout the years, carrying the legacy from generation to generation.
