With a 4.9 rating from 69 reviews, Phi Long stands out for doing the basics well: fresh ingredients, generous portions, and a menu that brings comfort to regulars while still being easy for first-time visitors to enjoy. For anyone exploring Vietnamese food in the Richmond District or looking for a quick meal with real character, this is a practical and trusted choice.

One of the biggest reasons people return to Phi Long is the food itself. Customer reviews repeatedly mention the banh mi for its generous filling, fresh pickles and cilantro, and bread that is crunchy on the outside and soft inside. The grilled pork noodle dish also gets special praise, especially from diners who say the taste reminds them of food back home in Vietnam. Other menu favorites mentioned by guests include the tofu banh mi, notable for its substantial portion, the flavorful beef option, and pork belly that leaves a strong first impression. The portions are often described as large, making it a solid pick when you want something satisfying rather than just a quick bite.

The experience at this San Francisco Vietnamese restaurant is simple and straightforward. That setup works well for nearby residents, office workers, students, and anyone grabbing lunch on the go. The shop is open Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and closed on Sundays, which makes it especially convenient for breakfast, lunch, or an early afternoon stop.

Guests also speak warmly about the service. The owner, Jenny, is described as kind and caring, and reviewers notice the attention that goes into preparing each sandwich. That personal touch matters in a local spot like Phi Long, where consistency and hospitality help build loyalty over time. Even small details stand out to customers, from carefully assembled banh mi to Vietnamese coffee that can be made extra strong for those who like a bold cup.

For locals and visitors looking for authentic Vietnamese flavors in San Francisco, CA, Phi Long offers a focused, reliable experience. It’s especially good for banh mi lovers, takeout regulars, and anyone craving hearty portions and familiar flavors without fuss. The banh mi here is truly amazing. It’s 12 bucks, and it is ABSOLUTELY PACKED. I have not had a banh mi this generous for the price in a long time. This is just a lining on how good it tasted. The bread, the pickles, cilantro were all pretty fresh. The meat was a pretty good amount, and I’m honestly still shocked. I will be returning

Great service and authentic Vietnamese food. The lady behind the counter is a multi-tasker and can do it all. Sandwiches are decent. Coffee can be made extra strong, like gasoline oil strong. I would love to come back to try the other menu items.

We love and frequent this place. Jenny is a sweet and kind owner. Her banh mi are prepared with care and are so tasty. I think we’ve tried all of them. Tofu one has a giant block. You won’t get that anywhere else. Beef is flavorful. The bread is crunchy outside and soft inside. Combo is perfect amount of meats and veggies. Tried the spring roll vermicelli plate and it’s a great meal too. Great neighborhood find. We always make it over here like a piece of home.

This place is going to be..wait, matter of fact this place is already up there with L&G, Banhwhich, Mr. Banh mi, and Saigon. The first impression is the greatest and I am impressed. From the location, to the menu, and of the actual flavor profile and build of the sandwich. The pork belly is vietnamese style almost equivalent to a traditional "combo". Smothered with pate and classic garnish, the ingredients are so fresh, it tasted like I just ordered it, although I ate mine the next day. The flavor runs through the entire sandwich, and every morsels is delicious. They win the award for spring roll wrapping, and portion size, and the boba...either it's been too long since I had a Brown sugar boba, or they just have a special recipe, but it was refreshing.
