Philadelphia Insurance Companies is an insurance company located in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, at One Bala Plaza, 231 St Asaphs Rd, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004. For people researching insurance providers in the Philadelphia area, this listing offers a local starting point for learning about the company and considering whether it may fit their needs. The available business information identifies the company as an insurer but does not describe a complete list of policies, eligibility requirements, or coverage options. Before making a decision, ask directly about the specific protection you need, what is included, what limits and exclusions apply, and how to obtain written policy details. An insurance choice should be based on the terms of the policy and your circumstances, not on a name or location alone.
Customer feedback in the available listing includes experiences involving claims and business coverage. Reviewers describe matters such as a sewer backup claim, a claim involving an auto transport broker, an auto accident claim, and questions after a small business closed. These accounts reflect individual experiences, not a complete account of every policyholder’s experience or a guarantee of how a future claim will be handled. Still, they point to practical questions worth asking before purchasing coverage: how to report a claim, what documentation may be required, how progress updates are provided, when a decision can be expected, and how policy limits or payment decisions are explained. Clear answers about claims communication and policy terms can help you compare providers more confidently.
The business has a listed rating of 2.9 out of 5 based on 58 reviews. That score and the critical comments in the sample are useful context for shoppers, but they do not replace a careful review of the actual contract or a conversation with the company about your situation. If you are a business owner, ask whether the company offers a policy suited to your type and size of business, and confirm the premium, billing schedule, cancellation terms, and any refund rules in writing. If you are contacting the insurer about an existing claim, keep copies of forms and supporting records, note when you submit them, and request a clear explanation of the next steps. These are sensible preparation steps, not a promise about response times or claim outcomes.
The listed office is at One Bala Plaza in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, making it a local point of reference for people searching for an insurance company in Bala Cynwyd or nearby communities. The published hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; the listing shows the office as closed Saturday and Sunday. Confirm current hours and the right contact method before visiting or calling, since the listing may not cover every service channel. Philadelphia Insurance Companies may be worth researching if you are comparing insurers or need to contact an existing provider, especially if you want to ask detailed questions about coverage and claims. Take time to compare written terms, costs, and customer feedback so your choice reflects the protection you actually need.

My experience with this claims process was unacceptable from start to finish. I filed my sewer backup claim in March and promptly provided photos, documentation, and all of the information that was requested. Despite fully cooperating, my claim was neglected for months. I repeatedly had to follow up on my own because examiner Julia McKee and her supervisor, Kevin Glozer, failed to provide timely updates or meaningful communication regarding my case. On the one occasion I spoke with Julia McKee by phone, she came across as annoyed, spoke over me while I was trying to explain my concerns, and made me feel as though my questions and concerns were an inconvenience. Instead of listening and having a professional conversation, I felt dismissed. After months of waiting, my claim was ultimately denied. I disagree with the decision because I believe the evidence I submitted—including information indicating the backup originated from the community sewer line and that maintenance work was performed outside my property—was not properly considered or addressed. The lack of communication, the neglect of my case, and the unprofessional customer service turned an already stressful situation into an even worse experience. I expected a fair investigation, transparency, and respect throughout the claims process, but that is not what I received. I would not recommend this company based on my experience.
You have many options for insurance, I would caution you in using this company for your needs. I ran a small business and was insured through Philadelphia insurance companies for just over seven years. I paid a high premium monthly. When my business closed in June 2025, I had just paid a full quarterly premium in May 2025. The refund that I was due was sent to an old Address. I had followed protocol multiple times to update the address with the company. Their systems are antiquated and ineffective. The address has never been updated in spite of my efforts. I still have not received my refund. This company needs to review their operating systems.
I am a disabled veteran, a mother of five, and I have been forced to go public because PHLY Insurance is actively insuring and defending an organization that receives over $22 million in federal funding annually to serve the the homeless population. 7.5 million or more went their Supportive Services for Veterans Families. The organization you insure, Friendship Place, operates under multiple federal programs, including Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF), and housing initiatives that place them directly under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. They are not a private nonprofit they are functioning as a federal contractor, and you are shielding them while they violate federal disability law. I have filed suit against Friendship Place, and I am in active litigation. You know who I am. I emailed your office. I called your adjusters. You confirmed that I am listed on an open claim and still, no one contacted me for investigation. That is illegal. That violates every ethical and regulatory duty an insurer has when dealing with harm to a civilian, a disabled veteran, and a federally protected class. Your adjusters told me you had the “right” to defend your client, even when that defense results in the destruction of my family, my health, and my court access. And now you’re relying on quiet courts, slow judges, and suppressed records to escape accountability. I am now pending an eviction hearing. My car is being repossessed. My storage with my medical records and my husbands mothers ashes are up for auction at Extra Space Storage. My mental health is horrific. My husband is in non handicapped accessible housing because Friendship Place never made a meaningful effort to accommodate my family. What you all are funding has exponentially and irreparably harmed my family.
They suck in every single way they are all scammers. It took me a month and a half to get ahold of them and i got nothing out of it I got hit by a driver student they were completely at fault never took my claim never answered my calls …
We filed a claim against one of their clients (an auto transport broker). They promised an answer within 30 days. It took them 2 months to reject our claim. They stated that their $75K limit was reached, which is not true. They haven't provided a single proof that they made payments to other carriers. Are we supposed to simply believe their word? We demand full disclosure of those carriers, payments, and dates. There were just a handful of carriers claiming against that broker and none of their claimed amounts add up to a fraction of the $75K. NO DISCLOSURE = SCAM/SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES.
