Phở Đồng Hương is a neighborhood Vietnamese restaurant in San Francisco, CA where many locals stop in for a warm bowl of noodles, a comforting meal, or a casual drink on a chilly city day. Located on Monterey Boulevard, this spot is known as a practical and familiar option for Vietnamese food in the area, especially for people who want something hearty and convenient. Customers often mention the friendly staff and the simple comfort of having a local place nearby for soup, rice dishes, and tea. In a city where weather can turn cold and foggy fast, a restaurant centered around hot broths and filling portions naturally fits the rhythm of the neighborhood.

The menu stands out for its variety of noodle soups beyond standard phở. Reviewers specifically call out the beef phở, chicken phở, and veggie phở, showing that Phở Đồng Hương offers options for different tastes and dining preferences. Diners also praise the spicy bún bò Huế for its depth of flavor, balanced heat, and generous serving size. The tamarind seafood soup has also earned positive mentions, and regulars seem to appreciate having several soup choices instead of just the basics. For many guests, that range makes this San Francisco Vietnamese restaurant a dependable pick when they want something warming, flavorful, and filling.

Beyond the soups, a few dishes and drinks come up repeatedly in customer feedback. The chicken salad is a favorite for returning guests, while hot Thai tea and iced milk tea add a refreshing or cozy extra to the meal depending on the day. Portions are often described as substantial, which matters for people looking for a satisfying lunch or dinner without overcomplication. The overall experience seems best suited to diners who value a straightforward neighborhood restaurant: somewhere to grab a bowl of noodles, sit down for an easy meal, or order familiar Vietnamese comfort food when they do not want to travel far.

Another detail people appreciate is that Phở Đồng Hương can be a useful option later in the day, when nearby choices may be limited. That makes it especially appealing for locals, couples, and small groups looking for a casual meal in this part of San Francisco, California. The atmosphere, based on customer comments, feels more everyday and functional than formal: a place for good noodle soup, quick service, and reliable comfort. Reviews are mixed overall, which is common for long-running neighborhood restaurants, but positive feedback consistently points to flavorful broths, kind service, and the convenience of having Vietnamese food close by.

For anyone searching for a Vietnamese restaurant in San Francisco with classic noodle soups, comforting drinks, and a neighborhood feel, Phở Đồng Hương is worth knowing about. Its well-liked bún bò Huế, beef and chicken phở, veggie pho option, and tamarind seafood soup give diners several reasons to return. Whether you are stopping in to warm up from the fog, meeting someone for a low-key meal, or simply craving a big bowl of soup, this local spot offers the kind of unfussy comfort many people look for in a neighborhood restaurant.

Good food, kind staff! Hard to find anything open late around here, so I'm glad for this place. Had delicious hot Thai tea and iced milk tea while my partner enjoyed beef pho. I was pleasantly surprised to see veggie pho on the menu and will have to come back to try it. Not sure if the ownership changed or who past negative reviews are mentioning in regard to service. We were served by a friendly and good-humored senior Vietnamese man.

Worst Asian/Vietnamese restaurant I've been to since I moved to the Bay Area. How does this place get 4000+ reviews on DoorDash? First, the lady took the order wrong. I clearly stated 3 items and she missed the combo rice plate. She added the combo package to the Vermicelli Beef instead. Second, the food does not taste like Vietnamese food. The Vermicelli was old and hard. The beef tasted more like Chinese beef than Vietnamese grilled beef. The Pho was the most disappointing. The broth had no flavor. They watered it down so much you barely can taste or smell any beef. Never coming back. Don't go here.

Ryte next door to Safeway on Monterey Ave. back in the day it use to be a very good family owned Chinese food spot. Now house by pho dong Huong. I don’t frequent the place but it is open late so comes in clutch at times. The chicken pho is good with flavor, a little oily but not horrible. Some type of pho is usually the go to order here haven’t tried much else. Also ordered the shrimp spring roll, with peanut sauce. They were also ok. They are open late with consistent food and fair prices. Check em out on the late night hype!

Great neighborhood option for Vietnamese food. The noodle soups are great. Apart from regular beef noodles, they also have a bunch of other selections. Spicy bun bo hue has great soup stock and nice balance of heat. Tamarind seafood soup also good. Perfect for a cold SF weather!
