One guest describes returning for bún mắm, a soup they discovered on an early visit and continued ordering even after moving away from Phoenix. I always visit a Vietnamese community or Vietnamese restaurant whenever I visit somewhere new. I’ve heard the most popular places for pho in Phoenix include Pho Thanh, Pho 43, etc…. So I tried Pho Thanh. The restaurant was very spacious with many tables and a decent amount of customers for after-lunch hours. It’s a casual in an old fashioned sense; the employees push around a cart to deliver your food and collect dishes, similar to a cafeteria rather than a restaurant. It’s also connected to a drink shop next door, and you could walk through from the inside of the restaurant. I got the Phở Filet Đặc Biệt, which is beef noodle soup with sliced filet mignon beef, beef brisket, tendon and tripe, meat balls for 15.95 USD. I was extremely disappointed in the place. The pho broth was very diluted, and it felt like they just bought pho soup base and used that. The pho noodles don’t feel like pho noodles, the meat wasn’t good or soft, and it was just bad. If this is one of the best pho places that Phoenix has to offer, then perhaps Vietnamese food is a pass for me if I visit again. Next door is a Vietnamese grocery store, that’s just as unappealing and gross-looking.
We ordered Bun Thit Nuong and Com Tam Thit Nuong, and this is NOT grilled pork. This is like they made the pork into a meat ball and they tried to grill it to give it a smokey/grilled taste. 0/10 would not come again - from a Vietnamese person
My husband and I had our first date here 7 years ago, ever since we go quite often! We love pho thanh, the food is amazing and the service is great!
The order given was incorrect; not one item that I had ordered was provided. The meat was very dry and tough; it looked like ground meat was grilled. There was a hair in the noodles, so that was not touched. The service was fine, but the food was terrible; for the price point, just go somewhere else.
Great place to go for breakfast/lunch/dinner. I stumble upon this restaurant when we moved to Phoenix. I was going to next door milk run. I tried this soup call Bun Mam. Since I tried that I've always ordered that soup when I go there. Move back to SD CA still have not found same soup that I love like this place has. Lot of fresh veggies/herbs. Thick rice stick noodles, fatty pork, eggplant, shrimp, calamari, fish, lemongrass, fermented fish flavor. Very hardy soup. If you are not afraid of bold flavors I recommend trying this soup!! #53 on the menu. Don't forget to get the chilli crisps from the pot sitting in the middle/back of restaurant. They should bottle that and sell it!
