Sign in to reviewI’ve gone here a few times now and I cannot say just how flavorful the food is. Not a single part of the meals I’ve had here has been bad or mediocre. The tortillas are handmade and freshly steamed, the beans were incredible. Their portions for the price were incredibly justified and also the vibe of the restaurant in general is extremely chill and unpretentious.
Mayan restaurant with some unique and different dishes. The pic-chic is excellent with bbq pork, fried red onions, marinated shredded cabbage and fluffy rice. It also comes with hot tortillas and a big bowl of black beans! We also ordered the mixed maya platter which was very good. The stand outs was the empanadas, and two covered puffed tortillas! You get a lot of food so given the price of the mixed dish is $17 and the poc-chuc is $18, it’s a bargain. It is a bit loud inside with music videos going nonstop but service was good.
Loved dinner here. Everything was so flavorful, and the menu was different from most Latin American places. To start, the chips and salsa was excellent, with really crunch fresh chips. We tried the fried plantain appetizer, which was both HUGE and really really good. We also had the tostada which were tasty as well. Mains - the cochinita pibil was amazing - a really rich porky stew which was delicious. The poc chuc was also very good. Last, the salpicon was tasty but not as good as the other two. All the dishes came with particularly tasty rice as well. Service was a bit slow, and the appetizers came out at the same time as the mains, but I can forgive that when the food is this tasty.
Fantastic authentic delicious Mayan food. Highly recommend the poc chuc and also fried fish (Pescado Frito). Large portions and great sides. Even the beans were flavorful.
A hidden gem. I’ve known this place since I moved to SF 10 years ago and it’s been constantly my favorite place since. The owners are super nice and the food is simply PERFECT, the best cochinita I’ve had in San Francisco and, in my experience, in Mexico. Authentic Mexican / Yucatecan food.
