I made a mistake on my taxes and the IRS sent me a CP2000 seeking to adjust my earnings and collect tens of thousands in back taxes not including interest. I submitted every tax form and document they requested to correct the issue well before the deadlines. These were sent via certified mail and confirmed received by the IRS but once they landed in the office, those forms got lost on someones desk. I waited on the phone for 3 hours each time I reached out to speak with an IRS agent. Each time I did this I was told was my case was "in the next batch" for review.
