About

Reliance Market is listed on FindALoco in San Francisco, CA with address, phone, hours, and map location. Common services and related keywords include Grocery Store.

Reliance Market is a grocery store and old-school neighborhood market in San Francisco, CA, located on Castro Street in the Castro area. For locals who want a convenient stop close to home, it works as the kind of corner store where you can swing by for last-minute basics, a drink, or something simple to round out dinner. Open daily from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM, Reliance Market offers the long hours that many city shoppers appreciate, especially when they need a quick pickup without making a bigger grocery run across San Francisco.

What stands out most in customer feedback is the store’s classic corner-market feel. Several visitors describe it as laid back, old school, and useful for everyday convenience shopping. It appears to be especially practical for nearby residents looking for a fast stop for dinner add-ons, snacks, beverages, or a casual grab-and-go purchase. One reviewer specifically mentioned picking up a six-pack and a wedge of lasagna, which helps paint a clear picture of the store’s role in the neighborhood: not a full supermarket experience, but a simple, local place for quick needs in San Francisco, CA.

Another consistent theme is the alcohol selection. While listed as a grocery store, Reliance Market is also noted by customers for having a surprisingly strong wine selection, with praise for Spanish, Chilean, and Argentine bottles in particular. If you are shopping in San Francisco for convenient neighborhood wine options, that may be one of the more memorable reasons to stop in. Reviews suggest this is a better fit for people who value location, accessibility, and beverage choices rather than shoppers expecting a broad, modern grocery inventory. That makes it a practical option for nearby residents, casual hosts, and anyone needing a quick bottle or a few essentials before heading home.

As with many long-running corner stores, customer experiences vary. Some reviewers describe friendly, respectful service, while others felt the atmosphere was less welcoming. There are also comments raising concerns about product freshness, so it may be wise to check dates and items carefully while shopping. Taken together, Reliance Market comes across as a neighborhood convenience-style market that serves a specific purpose well: quick purchases, extended hours, and an easy Castro Street location. For people searching for a familiar grocery store in San Francisco, CA with an old-school local feel and notable wine selection, Reliance Market is a straightforward option to keep in mind.

Scary and intimidating owners. Not a friendly place to walk into (but what do you expect from a liquor store). If you're shopping for wine or other alcohol then there is a pretty good selection, but don't bother going if you're looking for anything else.

Old school neighborhood store with friendly & helpful owners. Good place to grab last minute items for dinner or a sixer & wedge of lasagna.
