Saigon Bistro is a clean and pretty spacious restaurant with a comfortable atmosphere. The food was amazingly good and definitely exceeded our expectations. We’re from Chicago where we have lots of great Vietnamese restaurants, so we can be pretty picky about Vietnamese food. We ordered the grilled pork with rice and the pork patty dish — both were delicious and had very similar savory flavors. I also tried their house special coffee, which was very tasty. It wasn’t overly sweet, and the aroma of the coffee smelled so good. The only downside during our visit was the restroom. It had a bit of an odor and was out of toilet paper even though the restaurant wasn’t very busy at the time. Hopefully that’s something they can improve. Overall though, the food and drinks were excellent, and we would still come back again.

We are in Scottsdale for spring break and found this gem of a restaurant to enjoy an authentic Viet meal even though we are staying at a nearby resort. We ordered the rib BBH, pho, bánh xèo, gỏi cuốn, chả giò, nước dừa tươi, and bo lúc lắc with com chiên. Every dish was delicious. The restaurant wasn’t too busy for a Sunday night. The service was prompt and good, servers spoke English and Viet. For an added bonus, there was lively modern Viet music playing in the background. A meal like this isn’t just a meal, it’s an experience, it’s a bridge, a bridge to memories, to home.

Saigon Bistro on Camelback: Friendly Hospitality Meets Kitchen Shortcuts Tucked into a bustling strip mall off Camelback Road, Saigon Bistro draws a steady stream of diners seeking Vietnamese comfort fare. We arrived with high hopes and a specific craving: the elusive Bún Chả Hà Nội, the iconic Northern specialty defined by smoky, caramelized pork patties swimming in tangy, herb-strewn broth. Unfortunately, our visit began with an early disappointment—the kitchen had already sold out for the day. Pivoting across a regional Vietnamese menu is rarely a hardship, but the backup orders quickly revealed a kitchen leaning on time-saving compromises rather than deep-rooted tradition. The Bún Bò Huế arrived visually vibrant, crowned with a slick of crimson chili oil, but the first ladleful exposed its shortcuts. Central Vietnam’s signature spicy noodle soup demands a labor-intensive, distinct broth: rich beef shank and pork knuckle reduction, the unmistakable funk of mắm ruốc (fermented shrimp paste), and, above all, the citrusy, herbal punch of bruised lemongrass stalks simmered down to their core. What Saigon Bistro presents is perfectly edible, but it isn’t authentic Bún Bò Huế. The foundational stock is unmistakably standard phở broth retrofitted with shrimp paste and pre-packaged seasoning cubes. The sweet, spiced star-anise undertones of phở linger awkwardly beneath the surface, while the bright, essential aroma of fresh lemongrass is noticeably absent. The Cơm Tấm Sườn (Broken Rice with Pork Chop) suffered from a similar technical detour. A benchmark sườn nướng lives and dies by open flame—deeply marinated in shallots, garlic, and sugar, then caramelized until the edges blister with smoky char. Here, the pork chop bore all the hallmarks of being par-steamed before receiving a perfunctory turn on the grill. While this method prevents dryness, it compromises the meat's texture, robbing it of rendered fat, crust, and smoke. Compounding the issue was the accompanying nước chấm. The dipping sauce is the soul of any broken rice plate, yet this rendition was diluted and bland, lacking the assertive balance of pungent fish sauce, tart lime juice, and sharp garlic needed to cut through the starch and meat. Where the culinary execution faltered, the front-of-house pulled its weight. Service was warm, attentive, and consistently on point, managing the pace of the meal with efficiency and genuine hospitality. Saigon Bistro functions well enough as an easy, approachable neighborhood spot for a casual lunch. However, for discerning diners chasing the bold funk, searing char, and layered aromatics of authentic regional Vietnamese cooking, its kitchen compromises keep the experience firmly in the middle of the road.

This place is really good! It's one of my family's go-to's at least twice a month. The egg rolls are always amazing and perfectly crispy!

I had the Pho soup with filet mignon. Very tender, tasty, and exceptional quality. Highly recommend. Looking around, everyone enjoyed their meals also. Took leftovers home! Excellent.
