Sign in to reviewI love my neighborhood bagel shop! Delicious food, kind employees and always fast service. I always get the egg and cheese on an everything bagel and add the delicious smoked ham. It's the best in the business, beyond flavorful! I also buy their everything spice and keep that in my pantry. I'm so lucky to have them in the neighborhood (NOPA) but happy that they now have a vibrant second location in FiDi and I'm thrilled to now support them directly with their easy to navigate app!
I bought the egg and cheese bagel that's listed as the top rated. I added extra pepper honey butter, which was non existent, a funfetti cookie, and a $2.00 tip. It came out to $18+. As you can see in the pic it was extremely microwaved to the point where the cheese, or egg, or whatever it is, was curled and so hard I couldn't even bite through it. It looks and feels like plastic. I took 2 bites and threw the rest away. For the amount of time I waited, I thought they were making me a new sandwich, not microwaving me something made however many hours ago. I'm extremely disappointed and I actually want a refund, but I know that's not possible. *update* The owner reached out to me and made it right. He refunded the sandwich plus tax and tip and gave me a $15 gift card to use for a future visit to Schlok's.
I ordered online . It was quick and easy to do . Arrived just as I Rcvd text it was ready . I was worried about a line because so many people were waiting but I got my food immediately! Great service, friendly, fast , efficient offered everything I may need (and did) like napkins and a spread knife . But the food , well it was THE BEST BAGEL and spread I have EVER tried . I believe I will visit them every single day I am here on my weekend getaway. I had the everything bagels and habanero spread . I picked up a ripe Avocado on the walk home , toasted my bagel and it was heavenly . An egg on top would have sent me over the edge with flavor , but o was trying not to wake those still sleeping lol!
If you're wondering why this place has a line, it's because the bagels are absolutely delicious. Incredibly well textured. The only thing that gets on my nerves a little is they charge almost $3 for schmear (opted for butter on one, I had cc at home anyway) and if you get bulk bagles, another .75 charge to cut the bagel!? Bruh. I can cut my own but what about older people or the tennis elbow crowd!? 😆 no but seriously, that's annoying. Still love the bagles.
Genuinely think this place has the best bagels in the city! They’re big, fluffy, and fantastic either as sandwiches or just with their (very good) cream cheese. But while their savory bagels are always coated to absolute perfection with seeds, onion, etc, you name it, their sweet bagels leave something to be desired. Very few raisins in cinnamon raisin and next to no blueberries in the blueberry. This has been my experience several times. The best thing about those kinds of bagels is getting a little bit of fruit in every bite—but with these, you can go several bites without much flavor. Sometimes they’re pretty much just plain bagels. Fix that, and it’s 5 stars from me.
