Sign in to reviewThis dessert shop is an absolute gem! I’m so glad we decided to give it a try. It was our first time there so we wanted to try a little bit of everything. We purchased a cookie platter with about six different types to try from they were all delicious mine being the pistachio cookie. Atmosphere and staff were very friendly and patient. Whether you’re a dessert lover or just looking for a sweet treat, this shop is a must-visit. I can’t wait to return and try more of their delicious creations!
We had Baklava from Shakira Bakery in El Cajon at our wedding, and it was an absolute hit! Everyone loved them — our guests couldn’t stop raving about how delicious they were. We had a variety of flavors, and each one was perfectly made — flaky, buttery, and perfectly sweet. The balance of textures and flavors was incredible, from the crisp layers to the rich nuts and syrup. A huge thank-you to Lara, who was so helpful throughout the entire process! She guided us in selecting the perfect assortment of baklava and was always in great communication with us, making everything so easy and stress-free. People kept going back for more, and many said it was the best baklava they’ve ever had. Everything turned out perfect — Shakira Bakery truly made our dessert table unforgettable!
Update: 2 years later, they have gotten better. Kept prices as low as possible with same quality Thank you. Original: If you're into the middle eastern or Turkish sweets then you're in a good place. A nice variety of baklava, znood, cakes and more. Real tasty.
What a hidden gem. Just saw the sign while driving by and decided to check some reviews and came in. They have the freshest delicious cookies we have found in San Diego. Definitely worth a try. And service was great too. The cookies were $8/lb so very reasonable. Lots of cakes and baklava too that we didn't try yet and left for another time.
Baklava and Kunafa taste super good. Definitely Shakira pastry ranks amongst the top 3 middle eastern desserts offering in San Diego. Cake isn't that good compared to sweets even it's very appealing visually. Went here on a Saturday afternoon at 4 for the first time and we were hoping to have a bit more relaxed purchasing experience. We wanted to know desserts flavors and main ingredients since all have pastry dough, pistachios and honey but it seems like store personnel just wanted us to buy something and leave. It's ok though, we can compromise service since food quality is awesome. Will definitely go back for the Baklava.
