Stretch The Noodle is a Chinese noodle restaurant in Portland, Oregon, at 431 SW Harvey Milk St, Portland, OR 97204. It is known for hand-pulled noodles made fresh in front of guests, with a chewy texture that stands out in customer comments. Diners also praise the generous portions and flavorful dishes, making it a practical stop when you want a filling noodle meal downtown. The business has a 4.6-star rating based on 519 reviews, offering a useful snapshot of the experience reported by many local diners. If you are searching for Chinese noodles in Portland, this is a place customers return to for freshly prepared noodles, dumplings, and satisfying portions.

The menu favorites mentioned by diners include biang biang noodles and chao mian, with one reviewer especially enjoying the #2 chao mian with tofu and medium spice. That dish was described as deeply flavorful, somewhat salty, pleasantly spicy, and large enough to make a substantial meal. Guests also mention tender beef served with spicy, aromatic broth, which one diner compared to pho in its comforting, soup-forward character. The precise appeal is in the contrast: springy hand-pulled noodles, savory seasoning, and a level of spice that can bring a little heat. If you prefer mild flavors, consider asking about spice when ordering.

Dumplings are another reason customers recommend Stretch The Noodle. Reviews call out pork and shrimp dumplings as especially enjoyable, alongside praise for the noodle texture and the people preparing the food. Diners describe friendly service and hardworking cooks, and some have watched both noodle styles being made in front of them. That visible preparation adds a direct, casual feel to the meal without needing a formal dining-room atmosphere. Reviewers describe a food-cart-style setting with a handful of shared public tables, so the experience may suit a quick, informal lunch more than a long, private sit-down meal. Seating is limited according to customer feedback.

Stretch The Noodle is well suited to hungry lunch guests, noodle enthusiasts, and people looking for a generous serving of freshly made Chinese comfort food in central Portland. It can also work for diners who enjoy bold seasoning, chewy noodles, dumplings, or a customizable level of heat. Customer reviews frequently emphasize flavor and portion size, while also noting that some dishes may taste saltier or spicier than expected. The posted hours are Monday through Thursday, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; the business is listed as closed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Check the hours before visiting, especially if you are planning a weekend meal. This was absolutely delicious! So so flavorful. This is the #2 chao mien with tofu and medium spiciness. Definitely on the saltier side and has some kick from the spice. $14 and huge portion.

Excellent hand pulled noodles. Both types of noodles were made in front of us, and both were fantastic. Pork and shrimp dumplings were also some of the best Ive had. Highly recommended! The neighborhood is a bit sketchy and there are a handful of shared public tables. Still worth it.
