So perfect! We’ve purchased from Tara Fine Jewelers several times over the years, but we’ve since moved away from the Atlanta area. On February 10th, my elderly mother went into Tara Fine Jewelry to pick up 3 jewelry appraisals for pieces she had dropped off. She had heard about the high price of gold, so she also brought in some gold she didn’t wear anymore. They let her know she had 33 grams of 14K gold. They paid her $858 for the gold, subtracted $330 for the 3 appraisals, and cut her a $528 check with big smiles on their faces. She later told me about her trip to Tara, and a quick Google Search confirmed my suspicions that she was grossly underpaid for her gold. She called Michael Sterner, the store manager, and he offered her an additional $200. She was entirely uncomfortable with the situation. She asked to return the money and to get her gold back. They let her know they could not give her the exact pieces back (seems bizarre) even though it was only two days later. They did, at the exchange, give her 1 extra gram back and acted like they did her a favor… She promptly took her gold to GOLD BUYERS OF BUFORD, and they gave her a check for $2,200. They also let her know they do appraisals for $50 per item. Tara’s website says they “proudly serve each and every customer with honesty and integrity.” Sadly, that is just not her experience. It makes me sick thinking about how they almost took advantage of my sweet mother’s lack of knowledge. I can’t imagine how many little old ladies they have done this to since they opened in 1985.
wonderful place! Took excellent care of us. Recently had a watch repaired handled it superbly. They always have the best of the best pieces on display! Highly recommended for those with the finest taste in products and service!
