Sign in to reviewAs local and authentic as it gets. Lung Fung bakery might be one of the few remaining “old-school” Cantonese bakery in SF. The bbq pork buns are one of the best (in the West Coast). While the prices had gone up like everything and everywhere, the bakery has kept its products affordable. Be patient as there can be a long line too order. Come when the buns just comes out of the oven. CASH only
Great barbecue buns that are fresh from the oven. The pineapple barbecue buns are even more tastier. They usually run them out very fast in the morning. Get there early. They open at 7:30 am.
I have been coming here since my teenage days. I usually stop by when I am craving for some savory buns or when I am in the area where I need of a quick bite. This place is CASH only, so please plan accordingly before arriving. All of the goods here are made daily from scratch which is always a plus for me since it is quality over quantity. They offer savory buns, meat filled buns, sweet buns, pastries, sweets and much more to choose from. I usually go for the savory or meat filled items just to satisfy my quick cravings. The staffs here are well trained, understanding and helpful where I had never encountered an issue during any of my visits. At certain hours it can be packed where a line forms, but that does not bother me since I am a very patient person. There are a few tables available to dine in if you decide to. The prices are reasonable with the integrity behind it which makes it pretty rare nowadays. I highly recommend this place to anyone who needs a quick bite just like me, to anyone willing to try something new or if you just so happen to be in the area to check this place out. I definitely will be back to tryout the other delicious options they have to offer!
If you’re looking for Chinese baked breads, this is the place to be. Their bbq pork buns are so good that I’ve driven out of my way multiple times to eat them. The one catch is they sometimes sell at various points in the day which means sometimes having to wait 10-20 minutes for the next batch. Cash only.
The baked BBQ pork char siu bun are good, but not amazing. They are too sweet and appease to the Western sweet pallet. Best in the area? May be? Best overall? Absolutely not. Best I've had in the USA has to be Mei Lai Wah in NYC.
