The original pineapple bun is a clear favorite, and the guava flavor also gets special praise. One review points out that ordering online can help skip the wait, and that card payment may be available online while the location itself may be cash only, so it is worth preparing ahead. As with any popular bakery, experiences can vary by timing and item, but the overall pattern in customer feedback is clear: people return for the warm buns, broad selection, and signature flavors that have made this bakery in San Francisco, CA a familiar name. Their bread is just unbelievably good, its really soft and they will served it freshly made so you will have it warmed. They have wide variations or selections that you can choose from and you wont regret any of it because they are all good specially their original and their guava flavor. Highly recommended and definitely will come back again.

Pineapple King Bakery is known for the delicious pineapple buns in San Francisco. We were in town for a few days and we went there after early dinner in new Chinatown to pick up some buns to go. There was a line around 15 people to order the buns so that validated the buns popularity. We walked up to the cashier and ordered ,at a little take out window, the guava butter pineapple bun, original pineapple bun and croissant egg tart. We absolutely loved the guava butter pineapple bun and the original bun. They were fresh, warm and baked perfectly. The dough moist, light and the crust was crunchy, flaky and crumbly but didn’t fall apart when you bite into it. The guava butter was very fruity but not too sweet or too rich, just delightful and delicious. The croissant egg tart was just ok and the croissant layers were a bit heavy and too much butter for our taste and it didn’t wow us at all. We ended up going back to Pineapple King Bakery couple more times while we were only in town for 3 days. Next time we are in SF, we want to try the mooncakes, milk tea and get a box of the sampler pineapple buns with different butter. This bakery doesn’t have indoor seatings. Since there’s always line of people to order, best to order online and schedule the pickup time before going in to avoid the line to purchase. Do check on their website for menu and new promotions. Note that the in person orders are cash only. We can’t wait for our next visit to Pineapple King Bakery.

Texture perfection! The top crust is crispy and sugary, while the bun itself is incredibly fluffy and moist. Because they are so busy, the buns are always fresh out of the oven. Highly recommend eating them immediately to enjoy the warm bun against the cold butter filling. Must try include pineapple inside pineapple bun, chocolate filled pineapple bun, guava filled pineapple bun.

Ordered online to skip the wait and was able to pay with card(cash only at location). The buns were great! We got the marshmallow chocolate, Ube, cream filled, and pineapple filled. The pineapple filled and the mini dippers were our favorite! I really wanted to like the ube one, but I didnt love it. This place was great-would definitely recommend visiting!

Went in the morning at 9am and there was no line. Ordered Pineapple Bun, Croissant Egg tart, and Salted Egg Bun. Tried it on the spot and everything tasted like it was yesterday’s leftovers that they reheated. Biggest clue was the salted egg bun was not runny at all and dry on the inside. Pineapple bun and croissant was a bit burnt, probably cause it was cooked perfect the day before but was not sold so they reheated it to resell the next day.
