Hair-color shoppers may find Sally Beauty especially relevant when looking for supplies to dye hair, refresh highlights, work with toner, or understand product combinations such as color and developer. One customer described receiving helpful, patient guidance from a team member while comparing types of perms and selecting moisturizing products for curls afterward. That kind of conversation can be useful for shoppers who have a specific hair goal but want to compare choices before checking out. As with any chemical hair service, it is important to read directions carefully and choose products that fit your hair needs.
Customer experiences also indicate that service and product guidance can vary. Some reviewers raised concerns about receiving recommendations that did not match their color goals, particularly when working with toner, developer, or natural hair that they did not want altered. Another review noted missing accessories from a purchased kit. For shoppers in Alameda planning a color correction, bleach, toner, or other technical process, it can be wise to confirm every item in a kit, review ingredients and instructions, and ask clarifying questions about the intended result before using a product. This approach helps customers make informed choices for more detailed beauty routines.

Sign in to reviewVisited Sally's May 19 and Marco was just wonderful! I wanted to perm my hair and he talked through the different types. I also asked if there was a moisturizer that would help with curls afterwards and he showed me a couple of different ones. Marco also did a search of what I could use, and I really appreciate his friendly and helpful attitude! My curls came out better than a salon, so thanks Marco for pointing the way! You're the best!
I purchased this kit and it was supposed to have a mixing tub, plastic cap and gloves also, but they were missing
I come in often to get products to dye my hair. I'm pretty well versed in color theory and when I go in there and ask a basic question I get the wrong answer. I don't think the staff actually know what they're saying/recommending. There's a review that's below a little and she was sold T18 and I'm pretty sure she wasn't lifted high enough to have the effect wanted. Just a little more information can save someone from messing up their hair. Don't recommend things that aren't accurate. The store also has a pretty low stock often.
For a beauty store, basic customer service is non existent. At least greet people when they come in or ask if they are looking for something . Why are you standing behind the counter like a mute?
I walked in and asked help with a toner for my highlights specifically asking that I don’t want my natural hair ( dark brown) to get bleached . She ensured me that nothing would happen to my natural hair and sold me Wella t18 with 20 developer, totally ruined my hair, bleaching my natural hair to an orange color and my highlights are purple ... horrific just in time for Halloween. I should have done more research myself but I trusted the professional…
