Sign in to reviewEdited to add: Today 3/8/26 literally every self checkout machine is down and they have 3 auxiliary ones for large orders open instead. I'm done. Never again. I hope this location closes and becomes a different store altogether. Unbelievable. *** Older Review: How the hell do you have 15+ self checkout machines and only 3 are working at 1pm on a Saturday??? This keeps happening every time I come here recently, there's ALWAYS a ton of out of service self checkout machines and a huge damn line just to buy a couple things. Who is responsible for letting the machines go down so often??? Absolutely ridiculous. I hate coming here, but it's so close to where I live I just suffer through it. When I actually need something important I drive all the way to the one on East 8 and Los Coches because it doesn't have all the stupid problems this Grossmont one has. Either close this Walmart location or get these damn machines in working order. I've about had it with this place.
I gave 5 stars this time because I had an enjoyable trip to this store yesterday. They are improving the look and cleanliness inside the store. Seemed like they have more employees who actually look glad to be there. I found everything I needed and more on my list. The store was well-stocked. I usually buy Walmart brand products because the quality is good and the price is lower than the name-brand. Always room for improvement, but you guys are getting there. My checkout time was good, and my cashier was helpful & very nice. Would love to have handles on the paper bags!
Quieter than I remember. Shoppers are online I guess. Manager is very nice. People working here mostly helpful. Like that Mc Donald's is here. Easy in and out at registers.
I attended the Walmart store in Grossmont, in San Diego, CA. on 2/23/26 spoke to the store manager Antonia who I just happened to run into looking for a supervisor. An employee Riva was rudely speaking to a new employee who wasn't stacking and straightening items correctly. I addressed her as I overheard how she was speaking to a newly very quiet young man. I informed her she need to find a better way to speak to people. She told me in her country they speak rude to people. She appeared to be of Middle Eastern decent. I informed her here in this country we respect each other, and we speak with care and professionalism to our new employees in training. I hope the store manager Antonia seriously speak to her. But we never hear back when we complain about an issue. I hope the young man she was being spoke too understood me when I told him, she should not be allowed to speak to you in that fashion and, because you are new, she's taking advantage of you and if you don't stop it in the beginning she'll continue to do it. Because he was a new employee, he didn't want to make any negative waves with her and told me it was okay. I quickly said "it is never okay to speak rudely to a person". New or old employees should never address each other in a rude manner, especially in front of customers. It's different if you're in the break room or elsewhere where employees converse & joking, but never in front of customers should that type of unprofessionalism be displayed.
I recently visited a Walmart location and was appalled by how unsanitary and poorly maintained it was. The floors were dirty, the aisles cluttered, and several areas looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in quite some time. The restrooms were especially unpleasant, with an overall smell and appearance that made the entire visit uncomfortable. It’s disappointing to see how far the store’s standards have fallen — there seemed to be no attention to cleanliness or customer care. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend this location to anyone, not even for something as simple as a pack of gum. Walmart has really gone downhill, and it’s unfortunate to see such little pride in maintaining a clean, welcoming environment. 😞
