Sign in to reviewThe sashimi bi bim bap was amazing. The owner was super friendly and showed me how she makes the gochujang sauce from scratch. Delicious.
Great lunch spot! I got the Bento box recommended by the owner and it was delicious. Plenty of food and a good price. I got the chicken teriyaki and two sushi rolls and it came with a salad and some extra veggies. Very friendly staff and quick service.
I randomly picked this Japanese/Korean restaurant for dinner, and my first impression wasn’t great. The menu didn’t really stand out, and I was honestly a bit surprised by how pricey some of the nigiri options were. I ended up ordering the three-choice bento box and a hamachi nigiri (recommended by the host). Surprisingly, the hamachi toro was excellent—very fresh, soft, and full of flavor. I could taste the umami even without dipping it in soy sauce or wasabi. When the bento box arrived, I was shocked by the portion size—it was much larger than I expected. The highlights for me were the salad and the grilled saba. The saba was cooked perfectly and, importantly, had no annoying fish bones. The salad included a mix of fruits, which added a nice sweetness and balanced out the overall meal. The California rolls were also well made—since I’m in California, it felt appropriate to order them. The environment was cozy and comfortable, even for a solo diner.
Wonderful restaurant. It was a quick decision as our previous option was closed and we had already paid for parking. The best mistake possible, because the food was excellent, the service friendly, and the atmosphere wonderful. I went with my dad and he got a 2 option bento box and I got a 3 option. Came with rice, salad, and miso soup, and our options. My father got the blue mackerel and tonkatsu, and I got tonkatsu, beef teriyaki, and vegetable egg rolls. Came with steamed carrots and zucchini, and my egg rolls came with a sweet chili sauce. Everything was delicious and would definitely come back next time we are here.
We stumbled on this little restaurant without significant expectations and left absolutely amazed. We were visiting from the east coast and wanted a late night quick dinner. I had hoped to get some sushi, and found a place that had Bento boxes and great looking rolls. We ordered Kamekyo's Special Roll, a bento box, a fried soft shell crab and skins Saki. Foremost, it’s one of a few times the soft shell crab was cooked perfectly. So many costal restaurants cook these and they are soggy, moist. Just ‘ok’. This was cooked perfectly crispy, and flavorful. You could hold it up, and it was golden crisp all the way around without any sogginess. The roll, out of this world. The bento box, my wife loved it. We ended up talking to the owner, of ~30 years. Who told us about her husband, who knew Jackie Chan! Also just about her history with the restaurant and coming to SF from South Korea. She is hands on, constantly, and you can tell she snags everything for every customer to be memorable. This isn’t a Michelin sushi restaurant, or a James Beard meal. But it’s a family restaurant with customer service and cooking that you can’t match with awards or $100 per plate menus. The quality, the atmosphere, and the level of exceptional food was amazing. Don’t miss out. Talk to the owner, try anything and everything. You won’t regret it.
