I've been going to Gustavo's since the 2000's when he used to be on 29th and Mission. I lived in Ingleside at the time, and back then I would get haircuts every other week. We got our hair cuts, and sometimes hair dyed too. Gustavo always takes his time and prides himself in his good work. He'll never rush, and he always cuts and styles your hair the way you want it. Fast forward almost 25 years later, and just a few years ago I see him in the Excelsior on Mission and I knew I needed to start getting my haircuts from him again. My kid also likes getting her hair styled from Gustavo, and she always asks for him to cut her hair. I'm glad he's here in the Excelsior and although I go once a month, and it's because I'm older, but I still appreciate his craft and thoroughness, you can tell he really loves his job!

I recently visited this store and, unfortunately, had a disappointing experience. I specifically asked for help in finding a product that matched European measurements I’m familiar with. I explained that I usually color with a 10-volume (3%) developer and tone 7, which lays perfectly on my level 5–6 natural hair color without over-lightening and with no damages for my hair. Despite clearly explaining this, I was considering to purchase tone 7 Mocha with (according to his recommendation) a 20-volume (6%) developer. As expected, this lifted my roots too much and gave me an unwanted orange/red hue—the exact opposite of what I wanted. When I returned to the store to address the issue, I was told it wasn’t their responsibility because they don’t perform the coloring themselves. The communication was quite rude and irritated. If a store sells professional color products, the staff (owner/manager) should be able to provide accurate guidance—or at least listen carefully to the customer’s request. I hope the store improves its service and takes more responsibility for the recommendations they give. He also asks me if you applied it to the dyed part (the darker one) first and then to the natural part. I say yes. And he cynically questions this. Or indicate on paper that you do not provide advice on the separate purchase of hair dyes. And without fully understanding the buyer's request, you should not give advice that will make things worse.

terrible customer service! called in for a product check and o the first call I was disconnected! 2nd call, finally got in touch with an employee by the name of "why" quickly told me "no" to the requested product and hung up the phone! They'll never receive any hard earned dollar from me or anyone I know! #RUDE
